Maybe freedom as in financial freedom? I feel trapped cause of trauma and stuff but there’s layers.

rubberducking for those with social anxiety. Also small friction to get surface level answers that normally took digging from multiple sources.
it’s a study monster that initially wiped chegg, duolingo, sparknotes etc. The double edge is that people forgot how to take notes, learn fundamentals to handle complex problems.

We want to hear competency and not lies. I at least get something out of the leopards eating themselves post.
We’re anticipating bad news or lies. I still trust European news sources and some left leaning but it’s as everyone says. Tiring.

Don’t give up but definitely don’t work it to perfection. Also comic book with multiple races is gonna stress your drawing ability to the max.

It’s low key and has a slightly higher barrier to entry. This weeds out a lot of people that can’t bother to try. People here seem level headed

It’s not bad! But it requires a learning curve to actually find stuff vs having the algorithm find stuff for you.
But without active community posts and stuff, it does feel more slower paced. But the price of no corporations and ad free experience is hard to beat.
I’m surprised there aren’t more links to substacks. I don’t expect lemmy to be a news aggregator but to be more like a source of opinions instead.
Cant expect a reddit alternative without corporate interests involved.

Standardized connector for everything with backwards compatibility
Feeling of accomplishing something. It’s an escape from real life and you actually can complete something that’s considered complete.
No shifting goalposts or w.e just a complete game. Good story and makes me feel rewarded.

Kinda but reddit is a mature voting system mixed with capitalism. There’s a gamification with getting upvotes with trophies achievements, minimums to join certain communities. Reddit is a publicly traded stock which influences a lot of behaviors.
Here in lemmy there aren’t rewards for high upvotes besides the sorting.
Oh boy. You don’t have kids so that’s a plus. It sounds like you have a min max mentality. Your SO you need to confirm it but it’s not crazy so long you guys are fully on board for the ride.
If you say I wanna move 2000 miles out, if she picked 2000 miles north would you be fine with that?

Knowing there’s a lower reason to get data mined.
When we aren’t competing for top comments then there’s no pressure to post witty stuff.
The more people draw from reddit is like playing an MMO with a bunch of bots with tons of empty servers. Here it feels like a private server that’s more relaxed.
To be fair there’s a lack of niche that sometimes I go to reddit for. but when it gets too loud (politics, controversy). It’s best to look somewhere quiet. It’s kinda like option calls, on reddit your comment can spike overnight and you’ll get that reddit karma dopamine. But the lows can be harsh when people start getting combative.
Tldr lemmy is more slower paced and less addicting.

For soups it’s about clarity. I generally eat produce so it’s mostly vacuum seals or legibility that do it for me.
Stuff like junk food etc all look the same to me. So long what I need to know is legible and clear.

Unless we can increase our mental loads, more of anything doesn’t really work.
Lemmy is the thing I’ll use until there’s new protocols that focus on privacy or something else.
This is Sparta! Techno remix

I think it was like a mlm scheme of selling stuff. Not really a bait and switch but when I figured out anyone can get hired it didn’t feel so great.
So long you both are comfortable sharing how your feelings when things arent so hot. Speed blurs red flags!
Not associating with as many bots.

damn this was like old hulu days. remember streaming this on dial up. they always felt like a B type of show but that’s what made it great.
I believe it was America’s most wanted. Usually it ends with the criminal getting caught, but when they end with case gone cold and they add a phone number. It feels unsettling and sits with you.
Probably public speaking when they got loads of adrenaline running.
