Just a reference to the thing I have been seeing on some gaming communities of hyping it so hard that they think it’s going to kill Xbox, Nintendo and PlayStation and bathe in their blood
It’s a neat console, but it’s not going to take any of the big 3 from their spot
It’ll probably beat Xbox tbh, but that’s mostly because Xbox isn’t really trying anymore
You really underestimate the number of people who bought an Xbox only to never use it, purely from brand loyalty
Nintendo isn’t even targeting the same market.
XBox might die in its own though, and the GabenCube could easily pick up its share of the market.

Xbox is basically already dead, they dont even need Steam to kill them. That whole “everything is an Xbox” was a colossal failure and hiking the price of everything from the hardware to gamepass makes it worse.

Even if 90% of steam games run on Linux, those 90% isn’t bringing in the streaming bucks. Warzone, tarkov, valorant, bf6 aren’t on Linux, so the average(?) gamer won’t switch (or they will, see that their favourite games aren’t here, then go back)
Plus, rumour has it that it will be priced as a PC, not a console. If Johnny New-Gamer JUST wants to play Assassins Creed or the new Call of Duty. Will they pick up a pre-owned Xbox One for ~300AUD, or a Steam Machine for (what is my prediction) upwards of 1000AUD. Consoles are popular for a reason.
