More than 2 weeks ago, when this was published? In that context, based on what was common knowledge among the public then, I understand why he erred on the side of overexplaining that the U.S. military was on the cusp of escalating to an invasion.
Did the oil derrick really need to be labeled?
I knew what it was, but not that it’s called an oil derrick. So maybe.
It could be ambiguous to a general audience. A Chevron logo would’ve been more elegant

But the context of Venezuela having the most oil of any nation didn’t change in those two weeks.
Given it looks as much like a radio mast as an oil derrick, maybe.
