As I was making this I remembered that Homer was in Stargate and Stargate was in the Simpsons, it’s a match made in the ascended plane.
Stargate died a slow and painful death. But it had a good and long run. I just wish they’d finish the SGU story properly in another medium, comic, book or the like. As for the new rumored Stargate series in the works, I’ll just pretend that it is a completely different IP. Hoping that they’ll tie the story back into the existing canon and making it good is wishful thinking to me.
SGU made me appreciate shows that know when to end, and creative leaders who know when their story is over.
I can’t say anything about the quality or if they “finished”, but they did continue the SGU story with some comics.
I haven’t heard of this before. How would I go about finding those comics?
Amazon has them in digital.
I love how SGU ended. That cliffhanger was the perfect end considering the situation. I would have preferred more seasons but I knew it wasn’t reasonable. I just excepted what they were able to come up with.
I enjoyed Universe.
Me too. The ending is a definitely wanting but from everything I could dig up years ago, it was the best they could do knowing things were about to be shut down. So much potential, with and open invitation to continue/finish it later. They still could, all these years later.
I told myself I liked SGU. Then I rewatched it a few years ago. It didn’t age well. Eli is basically the only likeable character. Why do I care what happened to Rush or the others? They were all assholes. I doubt I’ll give it another go, even though I’ll rewatch SG-1 and Atlantis eventually. A shame. It had good ideas, and the looks back at what was going on on Earth were cool, but you have to like (or love to hate) the characters to make a TV show work. I didn’t enjoy Rush or Young as antagonists, they were just dicks.
They were all assholes.
I only saw a few episodes originally, and this was 100% what killed it for me.
