A pair has built a nest in the patio cover above the door. We think he might be seeing his reflection on the glass and defending the nest from the “other” bird. He does it for like 15 minutes at a time, off and on for a number of hours.

Poor little guy - that’s gotta hurt.
That was my concern too, but we’re going on the third day (he’s doing it as I write this) and he’s relentless about it. If it was doing him any damagee, I think my glass door would be bloody by now.
