Why are they even using real guns on a movie set?
I was wondering more about the live ammo…
This is the best summary I could come up with:
The verdict comes more than two years after Hutchins, 42, was killed by a live round of ammunition fired from a prop gun held by actor Alec Baldwin on October 21, 2021.
Joel Souza, the “Rust” director and screenwriter who was also shot in the incident, acknowledged the physical and emotional pain he has felt in the two-and-a-half years since the shooting.
In a sentencing memo dated April 10, Gutierrez Reed’s defense team requested she be released on probation with conditions set by the judge and undergo counseling and rehabilitative efforts.
A native of Ukraine, Hutchins obtained a graduate degree in international journalism from Kyiv National University and worked as an investigative journalist with British documentary productions in Europe.
Baldwin drew the revolver, pointed it at Hutchins and fired the weapon shortly before 2 p.m., striking her in the chest and injuring Souza, prosecutors said in the probable cause statement.
He was sentenced to six months of unsupervised probation, a $500 fine, had to participate in a firearms safety class, complete 24 hours of community service and not use drugs or alcohol.
The original article contains 1,455 words, the summary contains 180 words. Saved 88%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
So, time served and free?
No. She’s been in custody since she was convicted on March 6th which is 17 months short of her 18 month sentence.
She and Baldwin are both are guilty. He failed to follow gun safety that even children can follow. He aimed the gun. He pulled the trigger. But he’ll get off scott free because he’s hollywood elite.
Alex Baldwin as an actor pointing the gun and pulling the trigger was not what he did wrong. All of the was planned and part of the scene. Movie sets have different and strict rules about guns. You get the weapon from the armorer and only use it for the actions in the scene.
So if the scene doesn’t have you removing the magazine you don’t remove it. Even to check if it’s loaded. This prevents stuff like the actor goofing around and accidentally loading it.
What Alex Baldwin the producer did wrong was ignore multiple warnings and walkouts about the armorer not taking proper safety precautions. Like taking the guns off set to go shooting. He could and should have fired her.
Alex Baldwin would have been just as guilty if it was some other actor who had aimed and fired the weapon.
Thank you for that explanation. All the other times this has come up it seemed clear cut that he didn’t do anything wrong as an actor.
He also repeatedly ignored training and showed worse than little care about peoples’ lives. I don’t care if he’s found guilty, he’s proven himself to be human trash.
