Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever thought about deleting your account?
4·7 days agoIve been here three years, and ive been accused of being all kinds of things. You cant let it get to you. You should absolutely think about peoples comments and figure out if its about their own issues or if its genuinely a problem with your own personality though.
There are users here who had difficult upbringing because of racism or gender issues, and they will think you are a hateful person if they see a comment they dont agree with on those topics.
Hang in there. If you can make comments and posts that make people feel good (many upvotes), you are helping the community I would say.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The same people who rage against authority love moderating communities where their ideology is the only one allowed
21·8 days agoNot true for everyone. But sure, I understand the idea. Its just that i know people who hate authority and because of that, they know how to act with compassion instead. They dont speak bad of others and they dont have a lot of ego to defend.
The best leaders are reluctant to even have power. And they see it more as a responsibility to do right by the people.
I dont see that type of leader in America at all, but they exist in real life in Europe.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Ad companies are the ones destroying civilization
10·17 days agoKind of funny this has to be discussed in shower thoughts when its a central theme of our entire world at the moment.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is something about how people view or use technology that needs to die?
61·18 days agoIts just not fun to learn something im not interested in.
I tried to learn how to play a guitar and I cant even find motivation to start… Its just not fun to learn, its so much effort when you are a complete beginner at something.
But as a young person, you dont know anything else. You are beginner at everything and your brain learns easily.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a much bigger threat than initially presented?
461·18 days agoSocial media. Every person is now inside a filter bubble that is not reality but they think it is.
Affects how they think about absolutely everything. Thats why its the most dangerous threat to humanity as a whole, with big tech algorithms pushing content to people.

Wholesome@reddthat.com•Feelgood Friday... what's something nice you're going to do for yourself this weekend?
4·18 days agoMost days i take 30 minute walk in nature and every second day i work out :) The body really likes to move, so its a way to take care of it and keep it healthy. Also affects my mental mood of course.
I know you were probably expecting a comment about eating cookies or something, but… Yeah. :)

41·19 days agoIts because you are in a filter bubble. Its not a small and vocal minority disliking the new star trek. Its actually one of the most popular topics right now on YouTube, with tons of people discussing why they hate it. But your feed probably wont serve you that. We all live in these bubbles now. :)

21·19 days agoI feel like discourse is not worth having, its too many people being upset by opinions they dont agree with.
But yes, if you tell people that certain opinions are not allowed to be expressed, then they will tell you another reason they dont like the show. That is what happens. If you want the actual reason, you have to allow it to appear.
Many fans are seeing this star trek as being a vehicle for removing masculinity from the show, because the creators think its bad. But some of the new audience will say “whats the big deal, why cant we have a women be feminine and why cant we have gay klingons”.
So yeah, different perspectives, and a large reason why so different opinions about it.

92·19 days agoI havent but thats fair. Some people will like it, some wont. Its for sure more like a teenage version of star trek in my opinion. What do you like about the show?

I call it Validation Day, someone used that term on YouTube and its pretty much what we do. :)
Writing code but never seen the thing the code runs inside of…
I guess they are not very curious.
Klarna is really pissing me off. I got a refund from a place, and they put that money into some kind of Klarna Wallet or whatever, by default, instead of in my bank account where the money originally came from.
So I go to their stupid site, and select the option to refund to my bank account, and they are warning me this will take up to 7 days! For no other reason than they wanting my money in their account so im tied to their service.
Stay the hell away from Klarna. Im doing that from now on.
Yeah I know, I think junior developers have a hard time today. Not sure how to learn without writing the code yourself.
Mr Anderson…

Assuming the American election is not fixed.
I have doubts its a fair election.
