So there’s going to be a fediverse and a mirror fediverse?

If dragons aren’t real, how come you see them in popular media so much? where do the film makers get them? Oh, they used a computer to make them?
Sounds like dragon denier talk
I still can’t listen to “time is on my side” without thinking of this movie. 10/10 gave me nightmares as a kid
When I first noticed the memes, I looked at the account making them and it was less than a day old. I just figured they had an axe to grind or it was an election season bot and blocked the account, lol.
People need to reject the idea that “bigger number = better service”. The big players like that line of thinking because it cements their role of dominance and discourages competition. The fediverse will never be as big as Meta and it’s all the better for it. IDK about others but I prefer a small, active userbase with interests similar to my own over an ocean of crap
Silly me, not thinking of the poor little corporations again
What’s unsafe is having to navigate a giant fischer price interface whenever you want to adjust the A/C
Ages ago when I was in college, I had a little Brother laser printer. It was more than enough, as I was only printing B&W documents. It was wireless and you could easily get a few thousand pages per toner cartridge. Hell it even did duplex via a special duplex tray on the front. I loved that little thing, and eventually gave it away when I graduated as I basically stopped using it. If I ever find myself in a situation where I need to buy a printer, Brother is the only brand on my list.
Also, the lights would flicker whenever I fired it up, lol! that baby drew a lot of power.
Like the one daddy puts in his drink! …and then he gets mad
OMG I was obsessed with this game! I didn’t realize it was still around
I’ve had a mastodon account for a few years but I’m not super active on it, since I’m not a huge fan of microblogging. I learned about lemmy from the reddit alternatives sub, but never gave it much thought. I didn’t realize it was part of the fediverse, and didn’t really commit to making an account due to the lack of content at the time.
I learned about Kbin during all the recent reddit drama, and decided to give that a try. Now that I’ve been here for a while and understand federation, I’m really loving it. I’m really excited to see where this goes as the platforms and federation concept starts to mature and gain traction
I would love to see a social media network run under this model, and I think lemmy, kbin, etc are great candidates for that. The decentralized nature of the fediverse allows costs and user load to get spread out to other instances, vs. something centralized which concentrates all that on one org/person. I feel that makes a donation only system much more attainable
Oh shit, I’m sorry. It wasn’t RIF it was sync
https://pawb.social/post/146852
My brain is mashing things together apparently
It can be a little annoying, like when Sync announced that they’re doing an app for lemmy, and then your whole homepage becomes “Sync for lemmy is happening!!!” BUT the upshot to that is a ridiculous amount of redundancy. If a community mod or instance admin goes on a power trip they can have an iron grip on their little corner of the fediverse, but nowhere else. They won’t be able to stop the signal unless they decide to go nuclear and defederate which seems to be a taboo and option of last resort.
edit: stupid brain got the app name wrong
I wonder how upset he would get if mods start demanding compensation for their free labor
I just got done doing just that. I refuse to let Reddit profit off of my content when they treat their community like this
The salutation for System Administrator day is “Happy System Administrator Day! Hey, since I’ve got you here do you think you can <insert task here>”
The customary reply is “Thanks! I’ll add it to my list”
