Yes, how could I forget Deus Ex. Incredible story and again such a wonderful soundtrack, not surprising as it was also composed Alexander Brandon, Michiel van den Bos, and Dan Gardopee.
As for Half-Life, that game was also something else. But part of me resents that game a bit because it overshadowed Unreal. 😋
The original Unreal. For me it was a perfect combination of beautiful graphics (back in the days of course) and a soundtrack which complemented and elevated the atmosphere of that game. And the gunplay was nice, with a collection of somewhat unconventional weapons. A relic from a time where developers were not afraid to experiment a bit.
Time to install FreeSpace Open again. 😄 For those who have managed to miss that project: it’s a completely rebuilt engine for FS2. I believe even there is even a mod available which allows playing the first FreeSpace in FSO.
Yes, they can indeed be a problem for people with allergies. In my case dogs (and cats unfortunately) trigger respiratory issues. I had that issue at a workplace where dogs were allowed, not fun times. And unfortunately medication like antihistamines are not an option for everybody, personally I get extremely drowsy from them, even from the latest generation meds.
For me it was season 3 that I found the worst, too much slapstick and I disliked how they turned Hopper into a walking bastion of juvenile insecure comic relief. Season 4 on the other hand rocked again, much darker and a better balance between seriousness and humour.
Although around season 7 or 8 the story and pacing did became a bit stagnant as they rounded up several plotlines and it felt a bit as if the writers didn’t quite know where to take the show from there.
Cloning himself wasn’t his best move ever. You might say he… dropped the Ba’al on that one.
Cello, I love the sound and atmosphere of it. But at some point you need to make choices. I’ve played the clarinet as a kid and I have piano lessons since a year or two, so for now I’ll focus on the latter. Can’t have it all. 🙂

Definitely a case of ‘to each their own’. I’ve got one at home, I never want to go back to mucking around with two monitors whether it is for work or gaming.

I’ve got regular silverfish in the bathroom, but gray silverfish (or paperfish as they are called here) in the rest of the house. Those things are larger and much more destructive, some found their way in my collection of sheet music… They literally eat their way through paper and even damage untreated wood, nasty critters. And worse, where ventilating your house helps against silverfish, it only seems to create even better living conditions for those buggers. I’d trade for house centipedes happily.
For me it’s the GTA games since San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption 2.
I still try GTA V and RDR2 once in a while as I love the worlds in those games. But they always feel grindy really fast and just don’t manage to hold my attention. A shame, as RDR2 looks gorgeous and I love the western setting, but the gameplay just doesn’t connect with me.
Also doesn’t help that each time I want to try picking GTA V or RDR2 up again I end up starting from scratch as I have no idea what the control scheme was. Another thing that just doesn’t resonate with me I guess. Perhaps its better with a controller, but as an avoid mouse & keyboard guy all my attempts to use one ended with utter frustration.
IP banning is such an annoyance if you are unlucky enough to only be able to deal with ISPs that do not use fixed IP addresses.
“Can’t post today, because another random person got my IP ‘du jour’ banned in the past” is a pretty terrible user experience.
And the pro troll uses Tor or a VPN and only needs to reconnect his client to receive a fresh IP address. I consider IP banning to be a very mediocre tool at best.
Unreal only had a single Automag though, so either you are thinking of Unreal Tournament or you played on a modded server. Some servers did have dual automags (I’ve still got a mod and mutator lying around to get them in single player as well) and dual Automags (Enforcer in Unreal Tournament) did indeed dish out major punishment.
