When the US still had conscription, they implemented college wavers so rich and middle class (largely white) kids could avoid serving in Vietnam and only poor kids and minorities had to do the fighting and dying. Now we have an all volunteer military but since we don’t have universal healthcare or higher ed, we force our poor to serve in the military if they want those things.

Considering how cheap life is in Russia, and how expensive recruitment bonuses are, I’m surprised they haven’t already switched to conscription which they have a long history of.

I’ve heard of plenty of cases were people (or their next of kin) didn’t get shit. I’ll grant that that was from the first 2 years of the war, maybe they got their act together.

Most of windows products get increasingly worse over time. Security updates aside, I’ve never understood why the didn’t just stop updating things to save themselves the money and save us the hassle.

I’m noticing a certain level affluence in the left image. I wonder if people from poor families in that time period would look as fondly at a time before radios.

These people are all willing to play shows in the US, why wouldn’t you expect them to play in Saudi Arabia? Sounds like living in denial about our own country. Like the concept of blood diamonds; money from software made in the US has funded conflict all over the globe but no one called it blood software. We used to export soybeans and used the money to bomb foreigners and no one called em blood soybeans.

I can’t tell you how many times I was ignorant of a topic and spent 10-15 minutes learning about it then see hordes of people on reddit or facebook asking other people about it or spreading misinformation about the most basic things cause they’re incapable or unwilling to spend 10-15 minutes learning about it.
