I agree with everything you say here. I would say even some kind of consolidation for communities might be needed as a lot are defunct but I don’t know if that will work or is possible.
I like the ability to filter out by keywords, it makes for a much more pleasant experience
This is one if the most useful features and I think more people should customise Lemmy/Mastodon to their needs.
Yes to pickles and olives too if I have them.

Tomorrowland (2015), it’s a bit all over the place with pacing/story but still a really fun movie.

Man on Fire is one of my favourites and it gets me every time.

Anything like this with kids/families gets me pretty good nowadays :(

To this day I’ve watched it once and I’ll never forget.

I don’t collect anything specific but blurays are dirt cheap so why not buy them :)
Lemmy doesn’t have the niche communities and people don’t want to take the time to customise what it can do for them so get stuck in the same shit as reddit, so then they leave.

TLOTR trilogy. I could watch those til the end of time.
I thought it was good enough but calling it “messy” is a good description. Visuals were great, music was ok but with a couple of really good tracks, characters were all kinda meh but the overall story was pretty good. I’d give it 3 out of 5, maybe 3.5 if it in 4k with a quality setup.

Amazing. I must have missed the announcement and had no idea they were making a new movie!

Nomadland comes to mind. Something about the whole movie makes it so facinating.

Honestly I think Pillion is the most interesting movie on that list.

It doesnt have to be expensive to get a nice experience like this. I’ve started picking up random cheap used blurays from wherever I see them (and most of them for under like £3) and I play them on my consoles. Sure its not top of the line quality but I enjoy it more than streaming.

The Muppet Christmas Carol
Only one this week and it’s my favourite Christmas movie.

It’s a pretty weird film but I enjoyed it. Maybe in 20 years I’ll watch it again.

I really enjoyed Renfield and think it’s a solid movie. It is a little all over the place at times but it doesn’t really matter anyway if you follow exactly as overall it’s an easy and fun watch.

Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street
Can’t help but feel like they saved a generation, whether that’s true or not I don’t know. I don’t think it was ever a mainstay here in the UK but I remember the theme tune and certain characters from my childhood. I’m a big fan of Jim Henson’s work and puppeteering/physical props in general so really enjoyed this one.
Thirteen Lives
It’s good. I put in on for myself but it didn’t take long before my kids started watching with me. I didn’t really know any of the details of the event irl so was good to get an understanding of what happened and how they were saved.
