Does immich have a good way to hide or lock certain photos? I’d love to share most of my photo library with my friends but there are some photos I want backed up that I’d rather not share

please elaborate
dear Lord lmfao
(I’m making this post so that people who love Lemmy can help me understand, not to hate. I want to love Lemmy)
I’ve been on Lemmy since the reddit migration and every day I dislike it more.
I never understand what people are talking about when they say they like Lemmy for the “closer community”, most posts I see barely have any comments, and the ones that are there mostly look no different to what I used to see on Reddit.
the smaller community results in less posts about less topics, so it’s difficult for me to find anything I’m interested in. on Reddit I could join dozens of videogame-specific or niche hobby subs and they’d all be at least a little active, here it seems the only posts I can get to show in my feed are environmental and big tech doomerism and occasionally some Linux discussion, with very few memes or otherwise just funny/easy posts. I like talking about Linux, sure, but I don’t want a sinking feeling in my gut every time I wanna scroll idly.
there just seems to be a lot of toxicity here on top of everything. I’m constantly seeing people arguing or being rude about Linux opinions, big tech/privacy topics, etc. I worry it’s a bit more of an echo chamber than reddit ever was for me as well. I feel there are just a lot of perspectives I’m not getting here.
I left reddit because I hate the business decisions they’re making, but every day I get closer to going back. I don’t want to support such a shitty company that treats users more like cattle than customers, but I’m struggling to adjust to Lemmy even all these months later.
this link keeps trying to open in a browser where I’m not logged in :(
oh wow that’s actually exactly what I was looking for
I wish there were an option to see like 80-90% communities I’m subscribed to or following or whatever, and 10-20% posts from communities I’m not subscribed to that are getting a lot of activity. I mostly only want to see what I opt-in for, but a small amount of discovery would be nice
I’d be infinite stamina man. never get out of breath again, even while jogging
being un-googleable is seriously underrated. if I ever had kids I’d give them the most common names possible for exactly that reason. Sure it can be annoying when you’re the 8th John in your class but that’s a lot easier to get used to than the amount of bullying and harassment you could get for having a really uncommon name, especially if it’s a silly name or shared name with garbage famous person
I just don’t like monopolies, and right now everything else is chrome
lmfao savage
I think it’s kinda sweet for a kid. I mean what’s cooler than a robot when you’re 7? that’s pretty much the pinnicle of “cool” at that age, or at least it was for me. So to compare a crush to a robot for a kid is similar to shakespear comparing thier lover to “a summer’s day” or Selena Gomez comparing thier lover to “a love song”
I watched fma and I don’t remember this, is my memory bad or is the person I the screenshot just making shit up?
what? .world is federating with threads? when was this decided/announced? threads is awful, and it makes me sad to think we’re federating with them now :(
man & girl go out to drive under moonlight. they stop at on at a side of road. he turn to his girl and say: “baby, i love you very much” “what is it honey?” “our car is broken down. i think the engine is broken, ill walk and get some more fuel.” “ok. ill stay here and look after our stereo. there have been news report of steres being stolen.” “good idea. keep the doors locked no matter what. i love you sweaty”
so the guy left to get full for the car. after two hours the girl say “where is my baby, he was supposed to be back by now”. then the girl here a scratching sound and a voice say “LET ME IN”
the girl doesn’t do it and then after a while she goes to sleep. the next morning she wakes up and finds her boyfriend still not there. she gets out to check and man door hand hook car door.
I don’t want to nitpick, but I used the default reddit app and have switched Lemmy based on principal. I don’t think most or even many people are like me, but there are a few of us out there that just don’t like supporting companies that clearly don’t have users interests in mind, and this has been the wakeup call needed to get us off the platform.
I’d be worried about face fatigue in general. Those headsets can really hurt if you don’t have the perfect shaped nose for them
yeah the only situation I can see using this is something like on a plane with a family member or friend who would keep an eye on you, which seems pretty niche imo. maybe at home if youve got a loud family? idk I just don’t see a use case for this
What’s sophist mean?
