Oh, I don’t even mean from lost sales, I mean because this service is fundamentally going to cost more than the “theft” (lol) it’s allegedly stopping. If any one employee (or even a team) is doing this at scale and a business needs AI tracking customers to pick up on it, there is something drastically wrong.
This service is basically pure AI hype. It’s not doing anything a minimally engaged manager couldn’t already do with the salary you’re having to pay them anyway. Except the AI is also doing it worse and at a higher cost. Yay!
About a month ago, Israel-based Corsight AI began offering its global clients access to a new service aimed at rooting out what the retail industry calls “sweethearting,”—instances of store employees giving people they know discounts or free items.
Lol, I hope stores that use this lose millions on this stupid ass privacy invasion. Anyone stupid enough to believe the savings of catching a 10% employee discount used occasionally for friends or whatever is going to offset whatever the fuck this most recent torment nexus is going to cost frankly deserves to be swindled.
The purpose of a system is what it does.
Looking at the first letter and guessing based on what words you know that start with that letter, basically.
True southern hospitality—like giving a stranger a ride home because you happened to see them walking along the road—is something I’m big into. I always try to do what I can to be that person. Which usually embarrasses my husband and he’s telling me to mind my own business, lol.
All the funerals I’ve been to in the south had a big gathering afterwards with a ton of homemade food, and I think that should really be standard. My (non southern) husband was surprised the first time we had to stay and eat and talk to everyone afterwards.
My bad for misunderstanding you.
Ever since I learned that huge swathes of people younger than me in the US weren’t taught phonics when learning to read and instead were told to look at the letters and guess from context what the word is, it has made so many internet arguments make a lot more sense. A lot of kids will pick phonics up on their own to an extent, but the ones that don’t are just fucked.
It’s appalling because it’s basically how being functionally illiterate works, but for some reason now it’s the goal. And then they complain kids can’t engage with complex reading and ideas.
Please share any studies you have showing AI is better than a person at summarizing complex information.
Might want to rethink the summarization part.
AI also hasn’t made any huge improvements in machine translation AFAIK. Translators still get hired because AI can’t do the job as well.
Anything worth doing is worth half assing. If you don’t feel like doing the assignment, sit down and start doing the work, but badly. Don’t check your work or self edit, for reading just skim it. No matter how badly you do it, it’s still going to be better than none of it being done.
Often just starting is enough to get you engaged and do better work. And if it’s not, well, half assed is better than nothing.
You don’t know what I’m willing to wear on the street, Swedish tax laws!
I’m not saying it’s definitely a recovered memory from a past life as an amoeba, but if you did recover a memory from a past life as an amoeba it would probably be a lot like that
My client doesn’t give me a number, but I would estimate it as at least equal to the number you have blocked. Comprised almost entirely of people who are trolls, spam bots, or generally incredibly unpleasant and not who I want polluting my feed.
I don’t think you should be embarrassed by it at all, instances themselves can easily be viewed as curated block lists, as any instance not filled to the brim with internet refuse is going to be blocking at least some instances (along with all the users on it). Adding a few hundred more to it is just fine tuning.
Some kitties just have resting sad/scared baby face. My cat just sitting still with her eyes open and staring blankly at a wall looks like she’s a widow pining for her dead husband.
Your local library might give you free digital access to most (or all) of those, if you haven’t checked.
Thanks for the medication info! I’ve been in therapy and currently have a psychiatrist but haven’t focused much on the screaming issue. I’ll bring it up in my next appointment to see if it would work well with my meds.
I assume it must be nightmares, but I usually don’t remember them when I’m woken up. I think it’s PTSD related, but who knows.
That I will scream in my sleep and have nobody to wake me up, and it’ll be embarrassing at minimum and maybe get the cops called at worst.
The screaming part isn’t hypothetical, it happens pretty regularly.
Huntington Beach, CA. So, so many public meltdowns in the Karen/Kevin sense get uploaded to the internet from there. Lots of drunk people and road ragers.
