Bad times tend to pass. I find myself forgetting in the moment sometimes and yeah, life is frequently enjoyable in lots of different ways, so I try to remember that.

Just in brief, ignoring some history and so on, Gaza has been under Israeli occupation for a while now, controlling essentially everything that goes in and out, including people. Hamas gained power there, and legit, the Israeli government has given resources to Hamas to keep them going, supposedly as an excuse to keep their thumb on the Palestinian population.

A lot of people supported the creation of a Jewish state coming out of WWII and the holocaust, but currently, and especially because of just how hard the Israeli military is going now, it’s becoming impossible to not see how much the Israeli government just wants to take control of all the land and wipe out the Palestinian people.

Of course, there’s more going on, and some people might disagree with my simplification, but I think this is as good of a simple explanation of at least my understanding trying to follow what’s been going on in the region since the early aughts.

Yes, agree, perception is important. I suppose the root of the disparity in our thinking is what “better” even means, because I’d argue that in and of itself is perceptual with no real definitive answer, at least when it comes to forms of money or titties, you can come up with all kinds of reasons for liking or disliking different forms.

But now I’m really just fascinated by the amount of mental energy we’re all putting into a boob metaphor. Feels like analyzing a koan.

The actual value of the money doesn’t change though, and I think that was the person’s misinterpretation as well, your implicit preference can be different based on how the money is presented but it’s still 30 dollars, bills, coins, stock, gold, whatever. Portability can change, ease of use can change, mass can change, shape can change, but 30 bucks is 30 bucks and titties be titties.

Yes, I feel like the initial premise was interesting, and the atmosphere of discomfort at the start was really well done, then fake boob got whipped out and it just got more and more random.

I feel like it got so hyped up by the kind of people I usually agree with and the way everyone kept saying “Don’t look up anything, just go in blind” had my hopes up for something really unique and interesting with twists in all the right ways.

In the end I felt like it was just random and dumb… Good acting though.

Truth. I was genuinely angry seeing how Spotify kept trying to buy up everything podcast related. Felt like I was screaming into the void about how platform exclusive podcasts are antithetical to the free and open nature of podcasts. I hope their billions of dollars invested into podcasts continue to bite them in the butts.

Somehow I think Podcasts will survive enshittification. The basis is just RSS and file hosting, so at its core, it’s possible to create and distribute podcasts without huge capital investment. There’s always gonna be some people trying to get their voices out and Podcasts still seems to be the easiest way to do that so until some better method comes out, podcasts will live on.

If you’re talking about Podcast networks, streaming services, ad networks, then yeah, those might face some kind of enshittification and destruction, but no matter what, I’m pretty confident some good podcasts, and some good ways to listen to them, will stick around.

Lists and prep.

To be fair, my issues were not clinical, but having plans for dealing with whatever was the trigger for my anxious thoughts and feelings always left me with the feeling of “oh, this is manageable” or “this is too out of my control to worry about” and both thoughts bring relief.
