While a fucking stupid concept, it’s nice that this particular format has a monetary deterrent.

MM/YY for me. People can figure out the day of month themselves.
Microsecond precision is fine for most use cases, but I teach my kids to use nanoseconds.
After all the self-important blowhards in the committe were satisified that they had put their fingerprint on the ISO8601 document with bullshit like “year-month-week” format support and signed off, they went home.
The rest stayed behind, waited a few minutes to be safe, and then quickly made RFC3339 like a proper standard.
This is what RFC3339 vs ISO8601 feels like.
I’ve partied all day since sunrise leave me alone
Tbh the frequent pain from needing to read it again often happens because it was so hard to write correctly that it misbehaves on some data and you need to adjust it.
Deestan@lemmy.worldto memes@lemmy.world•This is the hardest concept to understand in physics18·12 days ago- Ok, so is it correct to say it has some rotation properties?
- Hahaha, oh no. Nonononono. No. Not at all correct no. However, it’s the best we’ve got so yeah that’s what we’re going with.
Not much but people will look at you funny.
Ah, they found it. Was wondering who went in to downvote all the discussion.
Anyhoo “haters gonna hate” is supposed to mean that you are succeeding despite the criticism.
It doesn’t really have the same bite while still begging.
Deestan@lemmy.worldto memes@lemmy.world•To the one person who keeps forcing this site down our throats341·1 month agoTheir admin tried to advertise it to !gaming yesterday, by linking to his community for downloading malware posing as pirated AAA games.
I kept an unreasonably open mind and went to look though the site, and it seemed hopeless as a concept. Especially their statement that they could not reconcile moderation with free speech, shows that they aren’t mentally equipped to run a site.
“Q: Will this site be overrun with racists?”, “A: If people offend you, block them. If a community is dominated by people you don’t get along with, leave it.”
Yeah buddy that’s exactly the decision we make for your entire site.

Thanks, friend! I’m all in all in a consistent good place and living a very active functional life, but it’s 30% medication, 30% being stubbornly careful of what I let into my head, and 40% luck.
I genereally agree, but I feel some nuance is missing: That is assuming a “harmful” environment is total toxicity and something you can just leave with no ill effects.
Sometimes the environment that hurts you is normal-ish and even “nice”, but you personally are sensitive to some aspects of it, making it exhausting. It gives you purpose and happiness and you may not want to leave it.
Sometimes you have to stick to a harsh job because you have responsibilities. I’d rather take reasonably harmless medicine like melatonin and beta blockers to reduce the effects of stress and have a fulfilling life raising and supporting my kids, than saying “Work and life makes dad sad. I need to move to Spain and be a bartender at a beach. Sorry kids, I’m sure someone will find you a foster home bye.”
The medication stigma is based on basically magic thinking: That medicine is alien, external, unnatural while the human body is pure and natural. Therefore any difference between medicated and unmedicated is artificial and caused by the medicine.
No, the body is fucking dropping terror chemicals in my bloodstream. It is changing my personality from easygoing and outgoing to snippy and reclusive. The body is malfunctioning and changing my personality for the worse.
The medicine is reducing the amount and effectiveness of the body’s excess of terror chemicals. It restores normality.
Idea for DND character: Priest from Earth
You know in your heart there is a god and you must spread the holy teachings to the common folk, but you have no divine powers to lean on.
Your god is all “I help those who help themselves”. Or, you assume that is the case because your god doesn’t tell you anything directly, intervene in your business, or react to anything you ask of it.
So, no divine or magic powers. Just go hard on strength and charisma.
The naming pattern makes it easier to have different “models” per major retailer. This hinders consumer price comparisons.
Thanks!

No idea what you based those claims on, but the spec itself (I have the pdf) and Wikipedia’s summary disagree. ISO8601 allows for YYY-MM-DD yes but it allows for a bunch of silly stuff.

Both “2025-W24-4” and “2025‐163” are valid representations of today’s date in ISO8601.
(Also the optional timezone makes it utterly useless.)
