With physical copies of games essentially being non-existent, there is absolutely no point in pre-ordering a game. Hold on to your money, and wait for reviews.

I’ve purchased many games at $40 or less over the past year that have given me hundred of hours of joy and entertainment.
If I spend almost twice that price on a game, and it’s unfinished, buggy, and heavily monetized; you can bet your ass I’m going to be upset.
It’s not about the cost of development. It’s about quality of the experience. For indie devs, the game has to be good to do well. For a lot of AAA studios, the game is merely a product that only has to be as entertaining as it needs to be for them to make enough profit.
I’ve played with randoms many times. Most people have been good to play with. I highly recommend it.
Considering I’ve been playing HD2 all year and I’m still loving it, my vote is for HD2. They did a fantastic job on the recent balance overhaul (dubbed “the great Buffening”).
I frequently move between very loud and quiet environments at work while needing to communicate with people. I highly recommend a comfortable pair of electronic ear muffs. Both Walker and Howard Leight make good pairs that won’t break the bank. If the battery dies, you just don’t get the “passthrough” effect and they’re just traditional ear muffs.
Donk is a 2nd or 3rd date kind of genre.
Personally I think it’s because Lemmy users tend to lean towards an older/more mature audience; and that crowd tends to comment less often in general.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any good advice, but I do want to point out that making friends continues to become more difficult as you get older. From what I understand, it’s important to have some sort of activity that takes you away from home and work where you can potentially meet people. When you get older and have a family, that becomes even more difficult as your spare time dries up.
