There’s things to learn that I don’t know yet. That’s enough for me.

I said probably because I didn’t know for sure, but damn, I didn’t know how far off I was! Do you happen to know whether Europe and richer Asian countries are similar?
Edit: just saw the link has some examples Edit 2: this says the average American tho, not the average middle class American. Averages will usually be heavily skewed by outliers, ie the super rich
But to add: the average human is consuming waaaaay less than their fair share of resources. Even the average middle class westerner probably is, and they’re already consuming a whole lot more than average. The planet and environment could sustain a lot more people more comfortably if there weren’t a few obscenely excessive consumers, ie the richest of the rich. That’s probably a better fix than shaming the average Joe for wanting to have kids.
To preface I think reproduction is a very personal choice and right that we shouldn’t force on or take away from anyone ever.
But let me ask you this: the planet we live on is finite. It’s not getting bigger and its resources aren’t getting more. Is infinite growth of population (or anything else, for that matter) possible here? Or will this system eventually collapse?
What’s weird about this is 18 years old a few years ago is roughly my age. I’m 26. But thinking of it, the first iPhone came out when I was about 11, but parents were super wary of letting their child use a mobile, let alone smart phone.
Tbf this happens to me sometimes when i have to use windows haha
But it makes sense. The more intuitive UIs became, the less incentive you have to understand what the PC actually does.
But like, is there studies about it? I didn’t find anything on a cursory DuckDuckGo search, just anecdotal articles
This has me wondering, are young people actually getting LESS pc literate? I’m sure there’s studies about that? It’s never occurred to me that growing up with computers but without smartphones was peak conditions for becoming tech literate.

For much of the internet, optimization used to mean improving usefulness and usability for end users. Now that we (as a society as well as individually) can’t go without the internet anymore, optimization means improving usefulness for shareholders and/or advertisers, to the detriment of the user. This doesn’t matter to them anymore though, since giving up on search engines, social media etc just isn’t an option for users anymore.
Currently lmao. I’m using those tools as well but some specific event generators I’m using are in Fortran still
There’s no distinct generations of either physicists or codes that all retire at the same time
I had to learn Fortran for my thesis because it’s the industry standard in particle physics
Not with code, but i write a lot of LaTeX and that often starts working on second compilation
If sign language is your first language, any written language is like a foreign language that you might’ve learned but aren’t a native speaker in.
Imo the worst songs are the ones that are generic and boring and as such it’s hard to remember any one in particular
How are you, OP?
If you’re lazy but not in a rush, legume soup. Throw lentils, canned chopped tomatoes, frozen veg and some spices and maybe stock powder in a pot and wait. If you don’t want to wait for lentils to cook, replace by canned beans. Easy, cheap, minimal cleanup (this is usually the part I’m too lazy for) and very reasonably healthy.
