I’ve had a Sony XZ2C for… 5+ years now? I’m not especially careful with it either. I mean I don’t throw it in with my keys etc. but otherwise it fell a few times and I’m sure I’ve put it down screen-first on occasion. Never used a protector, not a scratch on the screen. The outside however doesn’t look great despite being (or maybe due to being?) in a protective case.

I err on the side of splitting because of what Scratch just said. If I give my colleague 2k lines to review it’ll get slapped with a LGTM and passed. If I send them 100 lines they’ll actually look at it.
Not to brag but I just merged this. Felt so good.
FMT99@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Obama wasn't a hero; he just wasn't terrible21·1 month agoAre there people besides brainwashed republicans who unironically think Reagan was a great president?
That was my thought in the first two panels but the last two seem to reverse that. But hell I probably already put way more thought into it than I needed to already.
Maybe the joke is not to judge a book by its cover? Or that it’s nice to go to safe events where bad people are harassed until they leave?
The article did not say that but the originator of this thread did.
Because it’s a simplistic blanket statement about a very complex issue. You think you can take a single factor “kids = stress” and that’s that?
Sounds like a kind of crazy blanket statement for actual researchers to make but then again sociology research… well…
I for one love gaming. Also memes about how old people are stupid and deserve our scorn. Love those too.

FMT99@lemmy.worldto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL that the US is #10 in foreign aid per capita.English91·4 months agoI think the point is not so much that the US should be giving more, but that Trump’s constant complaining the the world owes the US and that the US is the only country so overburdened by spending on foreign aid is bullshit.
Also, I don’t think per capita expenditures automatically increase for smaller populations.
CDU: We will never compromise with the far right… unless it’s politically convenient <_<
Same happened in Holland.
FMT99@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Why should we be honest when noone else is20·4 months agoThese are all pretty inflated, worst case scenarios. I won’t say I’ve never told a white lie but I go by the old fashioned golden rule and do unto others. I do my best to treat other people with decency and respect (which includes being truthful mostly) and have by and large received that back in spades.
FMT99@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The guy (George Carlin) who told everyone that, "it's a big club and you ain't in it" was in that club.56·5 months agoFirst, while 10 or 13 million is of course enough to be considered very rich, if every guy with 10+ million got to decide national policy it wouldn’t be much of an oligarchy. “The 1%” is a catchy soundbite but in reality it’s more like the 0.01% that’s the problem.
Second, even if that were the case, an advocate for the people is an advocate for the people. Bernie Sanders isn’t poor but he’s one of the most dedicated and effective advocates for the working class there is. You can be well off and still be working for the betterment of your fellow citizens. You probably can’t be a billionaire and still credibly fight for more equality though. Gets tough to explain hoarding that kind of wealth.
Mononoke is probably the “best” in my book but my personal favorite will always be Nausicaa. Although I just found out it predates the founding of studio Ghibli by one year.
