  • I’ve heard good things about Nomad Goods. I have some of their other accessories for iPhone and watch, and it’s the best quality stuff I’ve ever found. I can’t personally recommend the USB-C cables or wall adapters, but I plan to get some soon. I have a leather case, MagSafe mount stand, and a few watch bands. All are incredible, but pricey.

I do have some Anker cables and they’re perfectly fine. Much better than others I’ve tried, including Apple shit. Anker also makes some nice outlet extension/USB adapter combos that are super convenient.

If you want a fancy coiled cable, try Ventec edit: Ventev. It’s amazing for the car - keeps it off the floor.

CableMatters is my go-to when I need something I can’t find above, like a USB extension cable or high-speed HDMI. They don’t feel as premium and are a bit stiff, but they’re reliable, and they just seem to make every option you can think of.

I recently switched from Voyager to Avelon. Voyager is great and I’m keeping it because it’s always been so reliable, but I just really like Avelon. It has a nice explore tab for finding new communities, and it’s SwiftUI, so it has that clean native iOS look to it. They’re very similar otherwise.

  • This is not perfect… but:

I pack small bowls - small enough to entirely inhale till the embers go out, so that no smoke comes off the bowl after. Then crack open the outside door JUST enough to blow it all out the crack, then shut the door immediately. You’re basically kissing a tiny crack in the door, then shutting it. A fan won’t work - it’ll blow a bit of the smoke up and down and all over.

99% of the smoke goes into the lungs and out the door. The 1% still smells a bit though. If you cough, you fuck it up.

Then of course the weed itself smells - not much you can do about that. But it doesn’t seep into carpet/furniture as bad as smoke does.

Since you’re using a vape, try a cart (oil) instead and use the lowest temp you can stand. Do what you’re doing or try the window/door-crack method.

If you’re trying to hide it from others who live with you, you can’t. Just go find a spot outside and leave a hooded jacket and gloves there or in your trunk (but only if it’s legal and you can’t be harassed for smells.)

Only foolproof way is to buy edibles that are made elsewhere and keep them sealed. Febreze or dry shampoo can help a little with mild non-smoke smells after opening certain edibles.

  • Searching for any question +Reddit and finding multiple answers/discussions related to it that are usually reliable or at least lead to ideas for more research. Especially for finding products and reviews.

I still sometimes look at old.reddit search results even though I don’t have an account any more, but I think those answers will soon become obsolete. And eventually I think new questions will be flooded with low effort trash answers that would make Amazon reviews blush.

  • Try https://lemmyverse.net/communities

It has the sort/filter options I think you’re looking for, and it doesn’t limit info to your instance’s perspective. (It always shows all instances, even if your home instance hasn’t made a connection to one yet, and it shows total subscribers across all instances.)

Click the !URL for an instance to copy it, then paste it in your home instance search bar to go there and subscribe.

Another useful resource is c/trendingcommunities@feddit.nl - not helpful for searching, but handy to check daily after you’ve built your subscriptions and want to see suggestions for growing communities.

Regular search features are lacking a bit due to the nature of federated servers. Hopefully these features will be added someday. Till then, dedicated sites like lemmyverse seem to be the best option.
