Not everyone is capable of doing every job. The tasks of a recptionist are far different than those of a roofer. Jobs like emergency services can be high stress positions, jobs like assembly work can be rather dull sometimes. Everyone and every job is different.
I would love to be able to become a master of all trades. I cant put food on my table consistently unless I stick to one.
Let me just quit my day job and learn the electrical code to install that new breaker panel I need. Gotta brush up on the gas fitting code too cause my furnace needs work. Then ill drive myself to the hospital where i will be my own nurse and my own surgeon.
The ability to learn is also linked with time, energy, and accessibility to resources.
Ive used mine before because the rad was too big to fit internally.
Or i could just plug my vacuum in when I’m done with it.
This was not an automated model of vacuum. Connection features for automated models makes sense.
Unlock more power for an extra $4.99/month*

Or even like modern wifi. I saw a vacuum with wifi capabilities. Do I really need to check my vacuum battery level from my phone?
Technology and speed of information has advanced significantly over the years. As the technology advances our society tries to keep up, a good example of this is how digital friendships and relationships have become. I know many yojng people struggle to make friends in real life but have plenty of digital connections. Many peolle fall into the trap of swiping for something “better” on a dating app than tolerating a flaw or two in their psrtners.
The speed of information has increased signifcantly due to the internet and social media. The entire world feels more connected than previous generations. News stories from any corner of the world are shared almost instantly. There is more opportunties to compare ourselves to each other with social media at our finger tips.

I found using a screen time app on my phone helped me become more aware of my screen time and habits. I would lock reddit/lemmy out after 1 hour of browsing throughout the day. I think there a similar apps available for the computer too thay block certain websites between certain hours or after a browsing time is exceeded.
I still play in the woods with my friends as an adult. It is a lot less often and we tend be more drunk than we were as kids.
Thats still in a sense a commerce based system. The only reason that warlord fights for that land is because it has value, be it food, a cash crop, a strategic location.
Warlords hoarded land and power in similar ways billionaires hoard money and power.
You can’t blame 100% of your media consumption on the snartphone but I think it is counter-productive to treat it as not a factor in media addictions. Smartphones made media and content more accessible than ever, especially as mobile data rates got cheaper.
Smartphones are too stimulating for young children. Their brains are wired to really take in the lights, sounds and interactiveness of it all. This is kinda dangerous because this is also when a lot of learning is going on, they will develop socially based on the content they consume.
I’ve heard that some toddlers/babies recently began mimicing the action of pulling a mobile device from a pocket and looking down at the screen. They’ve seen others do it so often that they are learning it as a nearly instinctual action.
Have you considered letting them party and being a cool responsible adult that sticks around to make sure everyone is safe. I had some friends growing up with parents like this. Their theory was the kids are going to party anyway so if you give them a safe space its less likely to go poorly. Anyone who got a little too sick or emotional ended up with an experienced adult to help them recover.
