Where’s your math coming from? There’s a ton of folks on the spectrum that don’t need assistance at all.

Well… that just sounds like socialism to me; so now we’re friends.
You have evidence that I’m wrong, correct?
LMAO… “bribes”… no, I have no evidence of “bribes.” I don’t have any evidence of a financial incentive either, as very clearly evident by my phrasing starting with “I bet…” I’m simply relying on 40 years of not having my head completely up my own ass to make some inferences about things, and if I’m wrong, then I’m wrong. I think you’re being intentionally obtuse. None of this really is impactful, but you sure seem to have an agenda.
I wouldn’t call that a good reason to team up with Meta, but I would call it a plausible. Everyone does not want to federate with the largest social media company in the world, I can promise you that. If you like federation, you’d probably like it to not be engulfed by megacorps (unless you stand to profit from it).
I think I’ve logged in for a collective 15 minutes. I deleted it about 45 minutes ago.
Are you truly incapable of acknowledging that large bags of money motivate people to do unpopular things sometimes?
I really don’t care about Mastadon as I haven’t used it much, but I couldn’t really think of a good reason for federating with Meta.
Yea I was really confused to read that. I’m on Kbin / Lemmy significantly more than I log in to Mastadon (I think I’ve opened that app 5 times in the past year), so now I guess I’ll just delete Mastadon.
I bet he’s getting a big bag of money.
Looks pretty fucking awesome to me 🤷♂️
X. I can’t think of a tech company that’s done more harm this year.
I have one, “get great parking, 70% of the time.”
Haven’t interacted on anything more than a superficial level. 15 years ago when I was in a band and playing shows, I encountered a lot of Warlocks. 90% of the time they were awesome. That 10% of the time was coo-coo-nuts-bullshit. There were two “guards” outside of a bar I was playing a show at that looked goofy as shit to me, but I didn’t inquire and I didn’t care. They had some crazy looking dude inside at the bar and I just stayed away from all of ‘em. Never had an experience more negative than that one, but again, 90% of the time they were actually solid people to be around.
Maybe it should say, “If the world went open source, and capitalism went away.”
No, I don’t donate to it. I don’t use it.

Same… it’s not my current company, but the company before this one got me interested in noise cancelling headphones. People bullshitting and talking loud all day may as well have been nails on a chalkboard.
If you’re going in to talk to people it means you’re not working. Unless… the company pays you just to talk to people. 🤷♂️
Well, you certainly wouldn’t want to keep them on your shoe.
Yikes
