And that may have been the harasser’s goal all along. It’s no secret the internet is full of misguided investigators and people who don’t realize how their curiosity can be harmful to others.
Hopefully “Nicole” isn’t being subjected to other forms of harassment too.
That’s fine, but removing downvoting doesn’t prevent the discussion. It curbs drive-by negativity which is a good thing IMO.
Obviously everyone is free to disagree with things. It should be more than absentmindedly hitting a down arrow though. Others obviously feel differently. Thankfully both exist on Lemmy.
That would be a useful feature. Maybe something to roll out alongside private communities and things coming in the future.

Being able to disable downvoting is one of the best features Lemmy has and I wish more instances would do it.
Voting here doesn’t influence your feed and downvoting largely serves to spread negativity. Turning it off has a negligible impact on usability and an undeniable advantage when people decide their feelings matter more than someone else’s, like whatever this is.
We’ve de-federated from both the instances being used for manipulative voting.

There’s bound to be others who are interested, you’ve already gotten a few bites with this post.
Anything that isn’t in the current mainstream tends to be in short supply on Lemmy. People haven’t gotten used to the idea that other people aren’t already running those communities for them. I think they’re still working up the bravery to be more active/figuring out the platform and if it’s worth the effort.
As others suggested you could start some communities up yourself. Maybe another option is digging up some of the dead communities and making a post asking others if they’re interested in taking them over? That’s worked for a couple communities in the past.
Found a few on lemmyverse, apologies if they aren’t what you’re looking for or you already knew about them. This isn’t really my scene.
There may be more if you can come up with other terms to search for.
Some people use Lemmy. If you create a community and set it to moderator only mode you’ll be able to post updates as new threads that are federated without random people starting conversations outside of the posts.
I don’t think it’s a major offense to reply in your own language but since most of Lemmy is English speaking I try to respect the spaces that are clearly meant for something else.
I like to translate what I’m posting to whatever language the community is using. If I mention I’m using a translator the OP or another commenter will reply in English if they feel comfortable. !bubatzgartenclub@lemmy.world is one that comes to mind where this has happened in the past.

Lemmy is still finding its feet and I think things like this will improve as it continues to grow and mature.
While Lemmy has been around since before the reddit drama, many of the large surges in users have been reddit refugees. As a result a lot of the apps we have are ports of reddit apps that the devs slapped together in a hurry to let users pivot to Lemmy. As time passes we’re seeing a number of new apps pop up with Lemmy specific features, and some of the older apps are still/finally being updated to be more feature rich.
The software Lemmy runs is also changing fairly rapidly so there’s some feature disparity between the webui and the various apps. Part of the normal growth process for a younger social media imo, but frustrating at times.
At the bottom of the page on every Lemmy instance there’s a link that will show you the instances it’s federated and de-federated from. Look for the link labeled ‘Instances’ from a web browser. Here’s the link for lemmy.world that your account is on-

Idk about RSS feeds but Lemmy Schedule exists for scheduling posts. I keep meaning to try it out but haven’t yet.
