  • i hate all tech corps. you can use (and even like) their products and also think they are evil, oligopolies and all.

i cant abandon my gmail because i don’t even know how many sites and how many people i have given it to. i like youtube because it’s THE slop factory. Maps is also pretty good, love Street View, Chrome is ‘ok’ but Firefox is a perfectly usable (and in many ways, better) substitute (especially given Google’s ad shenanigans).

Global privacy based Gpay alternative does exist, see monero. Monero is less than ideal because of its volatility though. Also, really difficult to convert to actual money.

The thing with Gpay (American one) is that they don’t handle the actual transfer for domestic transactions, Visa and Mastercard does.

Security through obscurity doesn’t really work well. Look at how Windows is closed source yet most malware is made for it due to its.market share.

Also, Chrome is kinda open source (not completely but look at Chromium).

With open source, if there is a security issue, it can be identified and fixed quickly. If the dev doesn’t fix it, you or someone else could fork the project and patch it.

  • uh huh r/FULLCOMMUNISM, r/MoreTankieChapo, r/GenZedong

    also

Reddit banned about 2,000 subreddits on Monday, most notably r/The_Donald and r/ChapoTrapHouse, in a move the platform said was intended to crack down on online communities that “promote hate.”

In a Reddit post, CEO Steve Huffman said the decision comes after discussions about how the platform can “[close] the gap between our values and our policies to explicitly address hate.”

    sure, brigading, sure.

  • Also Lemmy don’t require too much of moderation ! as any user can use the block feature in their options removed externally hosted image so you should not censor content in behave of others !

way too vague. there is no such thing as absolute free speech. nowhere, not on the internet or in real life.

some of reddit’s actions are very much justified like banning r/jailbait r/watchpeopledie r/TheDonald. Others were clearly banned because it criticized capitalist status quo such as r/chapotraphouse

  • If not for Iron Dome, Israeli casualties would be way higher.

Ok, why not give Palestinian their own iron dome?

Any civilian casualties are to be condemned. Yet, you must remember that Hamas likes to base itself under hospitals, schools, mosques. Not only that, but Gaza is also very densly populated. They’re some 2.5 million people over 365km squared. It’s very difficult to carry out any strikes without damaging hundreds of people. Yet, in the 2021 conflict, only 260 Gazans died as a result of strikes, despite hundreds if not thousands of shellings. Israel claims that at least 200 of those were militians. If that is not surgical, I don’t know what is.

    Kill yourself

Religious and secular political forces quarrel in Israel daily. It can’t just “become” secular. A big portion of Israelis don’t want it to.

And? Why is that a reason for Palestinians to be treated like second class ‘citizens’.

Water, food, fuel and other necessities are usually provided by both Israel and international help.

Why does Gaza have a huge electricity deficit? Why is their water polluted? Why does Israel deliberately limit food to keep Gazans on a ‘diet’.

Read a little about the history of the conflict, as well as about peace talks and different offers that Israel made.

You are a zionist pig and you should fucking kill yourself.

  • I think they should try and be as surgical as possible

How about this, remove the blockade on Gaza, give everyone there citizenship and become a secular state.

like they did in previous rounds of fighting

When has Israel not leveled civilian buildings? Have you not seen charts comparing Israeli casualties to Palestinian ones?

I can understand that Israel is angry, and rightfully so

I think Palestinians should be the ones who should be angry for the way Israel has treated them since inception.
