It’ll normalize a bit and you’ll start seeing more diverse content. Some will quit reddit cold turkey, some will do what i do and hop back and forth, some will just go back and deal. I like it here though so im sticking around at least

I’d add Halo 4 to that list. I think people just lost interest in the series over time in favor of new ones that have popped up.
I didn’t really like the story in 4, 5 or infinite all that much. I honestly don’t like most of the multiplayer maps in the newer games either. I don’t think the new games are terrible but ever since Bungie left they don’t have the same charm to them. Like Halo 2 seeing the scarab for the first time, or the different locales on Halo you’d travel to in order to unravel the mystery of the ring. In infinite you go into a bunch of nondescript towers as Cortana speaks gibberish and the brute guy keeps monologuing at you repeatedly. It was just obnoxious.
Yeah that’s what I read thanks for expounding, it’s definitely not good as somebody who also uses stackoverflow pretty commonly
All there was to really do after you beat the game was to do the limited time raids, breeding if you want to max stats (which if you aren’t doing competitive is not really worth the effort), or play competitive. And none of those actually took place in the open world they built. Felt like a bit of a waste
Well i know mods at stackoverflow were wanting to mutiny because the owners wanted to start incorporating AI responses to questions posted there or something like that
I haven’t completely left, and to be honest the only way I’d completely leave is if the niche communities I cared about died (or were active here). That being said I’ve noticed my reddit usage has plummeted over the last week. I used to basically live on that dumb site and now I only check it maybe once or twice a day for a couple minutes
I have front end and back end experience but work has me kind of bogged down this week. If nobody has stepped up by Sunday I should be free to start taking a look at it at the very least.
I agree in 98% of cases. There are some cases (and this is splitting hairs so i apologize) where i’m fine with it. I think preservation for some near lost media that hasn’t been purchasable for a long time (and maybe is tied to 30-40 year old hardware that isn’t supported or buyable from the producing company anymore) i think is an exception i’m willing to make. This is particularly prevalent to older games that are tied to long defunct devices that aren’t supported anymore like very old dos games.
But I’m also of the opinion those things shouldn’t have to be “pirated” in the first place and if you haven’t offered the ability to acquire it legally in decades it should fall into public domain.
I quite liked them at first but how many do we need? It’s become so over saturated and I’ve long burned out of the genre.
I need to start going back to the theaters more. The ones near me had awesome leather seats. I could hang out there all day and watch movies if it wasn’t for the costs and need for natural light haha
That fact that’s considered a boomer take makes me sad
Is it possible to message on mastodon and peertube with lemmy (or is it only through kbin currently)? I was trying to figure out how that worked but had some difficulty
They also take 15 minutes loading through their awful bloated menus just so you can play a game. Yeah sports games are awful these days and they used to be the games I played the most
We’ve become increasingly the minority on this but I agree wholeheartedly.
I’d also say this for Hearts of Iron 4. The vanilla game has gotten increasing amounts of flavor over the years, but the kaiserreich, road to 56, etc total conversion mods added a lot more replayability to the game
Go to the communities page on here and it will bring up a list of communities. Select the ‘all’ tab and it will bring up all the communities hosted on here and on other instances that are linked with beehaw. So you may see a ‘Technology’ community and a ‘Technology@lemmy.ml’ community. The first one is the technology community hosted here on beehaw, and the second one is the technology community hosted on lemmy.ml.
Now beehaw users can’t make instances (as decided by the beehaw admins), but there are instances you can create your own communities. So you will definitely run across some more niche ones from those external instances in that communities page that you can access and subscribe/post to
Most of my twitter engagement comes from links on reddit funny enough (usually sports related). There’s still a few people im interested in following as well so i’ll poke my head in here and there. But yeah i certainly don’t blame people for leaving the platform entirely. I just try to steer clear of the toxic stuff (which is very tough if you spend longer than 5 minutes on it)
Sweat is kind of unavoidable (especially where I live where it gets very humid). Cold beverages (drink plenty of water), stay in the shade, jump in a pool (not an option for everyone, sometimes ill just splash cold water on my face), AC is wonderful (also not an option for everyone), or at least turn on some fans and get some airflow on you.
Musk set a goal of making half of Twitter’s revenue subscription-based, but his revamped Twitter Blue subscription service got off to a slow start. As the NYT report said, reversing the decline in advertising “is crucial because ads have long made up 90 percent of the company’s revenue.”
Well it looks like he’s well on his way to succeeding in that goal if the ad revenue keeps dropping
It depends on the game. Like if it’s an online only game, then of course that makes sense. But a single player game, or even a game with a single player mode requiring always online is and will always be dumb.
Diablo 4 not being designed for offline solo play as well (like D2 and I think even D3 was) is annoying though.
