For what it is worth USA did require a purge before entering the bold civil oppression phase.

9·9 days agoPutin is an intelligence operative, it does not seems unlikely that a country headed by one for decades would do well clandestine operations and falter in war.
American oligarchs are also greedy, base and overall pretty stupid so I think you overestimate the challenge of manipulating them.

I don’t think I even got that far. I remember it being quite off almost immediately, I was already giving it a chance and it just did not get better.
Thing is, if something is omnipotent it has chosen to be evil if evil exists. That is why if you assume omnipotence everything is an irrelevant detail. Whether they’ve chosen to become omniscient or omnibenevolent, and omnipotent being is responsible for all evil anyway. So if either is true doesn’t matter any omnipotent God would be evil as long as evil exists.
An omnipotent being can do anything logically possible. There is nothing preventing them from thinking "I wish I was omniscient or I wish I was omnibenevolent, and so it would be. An omnipotent but not omniscient being is simply specifically avoiding becoming omniscient.
And of course, anything that is not omniscient knows they are not.
I remember trying this series out in my teens, having already gone trough quite a few, and I remember it being the first book I just dropped under a half trough, but I couldn’t remember why until know. I just remembered it as shallow and depressing to read.
But you see how if they immediately saw the base pathetic person Winston is beyond the curtain of his own narrative, none of that really works.
Well, all but B and D are redundant, an omnipotent being could simply choose to be perfect in every other way. If they are not they specifically avoid being.
God is also called father, for he is the Godfather of Godfathers, and your protection money is eternally due.
But what’s the sacrifice either? Jesus doesn’t even die for good. Is a few hours of suffering a grand sacrifice worth all humanity’s sins?
Off course the judge of that is God who is the definitive self-absorbed jackass so maybe he does value his own temporary inconvenience that high.

4·13 days agoI’ve had mental health professionals use that non-apology and insist it must suffice and absolution is owed, I do not think it is going away anytime soon.
And places where people insist they don’t need winter tires even though snow and ice is reality every year. No one and no vehicle can drive safely in the winter with summer tires.
Then again, remember it’s 99.9% not good people who give a damn about it so…
Eh, it works more than 80% of the time.

How does that relate? The waitress is bound to a social constract that restricts their behaviour, much like one should not spew some platitudes that sound like you’re tripping right now in response to a customary greeting that really isn’t about how they’re doing unless asked of a close friend or family in a private setting.
