  • It is probably been said, but roll with the failures in disco elysium, sometimes the failures bring out a better result. It systems do a great job commenting on your decisions and whether you do your job as a cop or not, it still drives across a very human story

In regards to a game with a good story, I can say OneShot surprised me. It breaks the 4th wall by having you be the character that guides the protagonist through the world as they wake up in another world and go on a journey trying to get back. Simple graphics and one has to read everything, but by the story’s end was I left feeling some emotions in regards to its conclusion.

  • Tldr:

Having too many cultures that have not established a “market share” in politics makes the, people who run a country, job harder as it has to contend with dealing with the potential of new cultures forming and the inevitable culture clashes that follow as differing values and ideals will demand different things.

It fractures and dilutes points of control which encourages politics to try ensure loyalty though aligning itself with views of the majority.

    End tldr

Unironically, Stellaris is probably a decent example of the thought experiment played out. Unless a species is built with ideals of the intergration and/or has its proper foundation set then it can quickly spiral out of hand as you have to deal with " a hunded voices asking for one thing".

It is far easier to control and secure a foundational majority based off of one species as it can be more easily guided towards an established outcome.

Adding too many “outsiders” has the potential to cause an imbalance and a shift in thinking which then requires a new paradigm to “herd the sheep” as it were, while still trying to maintain a standard that the base species has become accustomed to.

If it not carefully controlled, it can potentially lead to a fracturing of opinion and thoughts which is a lot harder to manage and “guide” as one runs the risk of isolating one group and in doing so opening up the potential cascade of problems if the ignored minorities builds up steam which then forces leaders to contend with trying to figure out a way to maintain control over the many species bases while still doing it in a way that causes the least amount of disruption to their control.

  • I think I am doing something like that at the moment, I wrote a whole lot of ideas - just having a name and saved it as unpublished posts. I look at the list, select something and try writing about it - if it starts feeling like it is not working out I stop, save it and have it as an unfinished work for when I can have a better idea what to do with it.

It has been helping me with writing a topic and choosing one I enjoy writing about - I then publish what I find acceptable and then it works as a proof that I am doing something and can be adjusted at a later time, have works in progress that didn’t work out how I planned and then a whole list of ideas I can try work on so I have so I also have something to look at and work on.

  • Thank you for the advice

I have made a whole bunch of ideas and I sit with for a bit and if I cannot find something I am happy with I shelve it and try something else to write about. I can apply that advice to that as well and of course revise once I feel I can improve on what I have written.

That is a fair assessment and I will continue along the current way that I am doing now in regards to ads ( leaving it off)

I do agree with the upside of writing, it is something that is helping me mentally and I guess with experience I can develop my own style and way of expression and improve it over time

  • If I had to think, I enjoy games and writing about it is filling a hole where I can not afford to do so.

It is probably a coping mechanism, but writing about the games that have left an impression on me does make me feel better - expressing things in my head and directing that into something tangilble that I can see and read.

Concerns being coming off very amatuer or low effort. Thinking that I am missing things that are considered standard, esential in integration or some other things that is expected on a blog. Also the question of adsense as I do feel conflicted on and so far avoided it because I feel that is something that I should consider after I have put significant effort into the blog but then not sure if that will significantly worsen the user experience.

In reflection I feel I want to share with people what I have found to be enjoyable and try to express a positive impression why I found it enjoyable. I do try and limit myself because I do have a tendency to narrow in on specific instances and try to write in a way that it is more generalised to avoid spoiling content to it when I notice.

Seems I am excessively over-thinking things and should just continue on what I have been doing and organically improve as I go instead of trying to find all the answers up front.

Thank you for the questions, it is helpful that I can look at the problems and try deconstruct it - confront the the questions one could say.

  • Not sure where it is from, misquoting and probably butchering the quote:

“If you think a headache is bad, break your arm then the headache doesn’t feel so bad anymore”

Basically if something is bad, but something worse comes along, then the bad thing doesn’t seem so bad anymore

    Update:

Because this has got me thinking, going to update when I quote source ( also don’t want to double post)

Heard in Mass Effect 2, Thane quoting:

“When all the world is overcharged with inhabitants, then the last remedy of all is war, which provideth for every man, by victory or death.” Thomas Hobbes
