As for new things, I stumble upon them.

Sometimes (rarely) I swap to (digital) radio, and occasionally hear songs I’m interested there. From song, I often check out the artist’s other songs too.

Sometimes (maybe always if they show up for me?) I check out songs or genres when they come up here on Lemmy. Not that it’s been particularly successful in giving me new favorites or likes.

I find Arte Tracks quite interesting and it makes me look up genres and music. Not that it’s been particularly successful in giving me new favorites.

YouTube Music algorithm streaming me new songs. When they stand out to me I give them a like, playlist them, and/or check out the artist. Soundcloud also has back-filling streaming modes and related songs.

Sometimes in videos (including online, series, anime here) I hear music that stands out to me and I look up.

As for switching up the kind of genre or platform, it’s by mood or chance.

Depends very much on the instances and connected instances you interact with.

I haven’t seen it excessively or broadly in the way you describe. I’ve seen strong one-sided and often ideological or presumptuous opinions on some tech topics, which may not be deliberate or orchestrated propaganda, but kinda works the same.

There are some good ones which I would say do not fit your description, but I have no idea how much percentage of the talks they are. I watched some very long ago. It seems plausible that it leaned more into and fell into what you describe. I feel like I’ve certainly peeked into those kinds too. I haven’t watched any for a long time now.

I’m not scared about our or my future. There are and will be concerns and issues, but it is what it is. I have enough issues with my present anyway.

I use a simple mouse gesture bound to scroll to top, or the Home key on my keyboard. Those are no more effort than a refresh.

Yes. AI has not taken over anything. It just makes it easier to produce and suggest shit, can help you write or draft or find information if you know what you’re doing.

There’s also a lot of variance how and to what degree people use AI, and which, and cost investment.

In the end, the owners have access to the resources, can get labor or whatever for cheap, and can live in control and luxury even without selling much or anything, while trading amongst themselves.

They don’t have a need or use to produce for the parents anymore. It only makes sense for as long as they have gain.

Owners may incite conflict and war to gain more control. The peasants will join for a lack of better knowledge, access, or alternatives.

We’re back in the middle ages.

People rise up and destroy or regulate the destructive forces, and establish a more sustainable system - maybe.
