  • Honestly 95% of Jira complaints are because people have crap workflows configured. Out of the box Jira is pretty terrible but it’s very customisable and you need to adjust it to suit your needs - and they have to be your needs and workflows.

That being said, there’s that last 5% that Jira just gets in the way. If anyone has ever had multiple teams working on a single product, Jira is very prescribed about how you’re supposed to structure that and If you don’t, it’s a pain.

  • They were clearly trying to piggyback on the success Battlestar Galactica, but I think they massively missed the mark by being boring.

BSG was dark, gritty and at times ruthless but it never really felt slow, there was always plot development or character arcs worth following.

Universe was just boring half the time, it felt like you had to persevere through 40mins of filler each episode before getting to the next part of the story.

  • I think the argument about “for accessibility” is missing the point a little bit and a common mistake most developers make.

You should endeavour to make your interface accessible by default. You shouldn’t be thinking in terms of “okay here’s the design and here’s the design that’s accessible”, you should be considering accessibility in all of your designs.

Now that’s usually a bit harder with games because you have styles and themes that you don’t want to detract from, but if your interface causes accessibility issues, it’s generally going to be bad for people that don’t have accessibility needs as well.

    Accessibility benefits everyone.

  • I hate it when a big franchise or series ends up making the entire story revolve around the personal life of the protagonist.

For me the appeal of Bond was this unknown secret agent uncovering some big bad plot from some bad guy we knew little about art the start. I want it to be about uncovering the conspiracy and finding a way to stop it against all odds.

I do not want it to be able Bond’s relationship with his mother (or mother figure).

  • I think you’re missing the point I’m getting at. The Linux challenge was specifically a gaming challenge, or at least gaming was a significant part of the challenge and while yes, gaming has indeed come a long way in recent years (and the stream deck is helping drive that further), it still has as long way to go.

You need to separate the “what’s doable” fun “what works out of the box”, it’s the latter that can fall down for most people and the second you have to open as terminal, you’ve lost the audience that we’re talking about.
