Look, maybe you’re right, but I’m supposed to just take your word for it? From a cursory look at their profile I’m not seeing examples of what you’re talking about.

Late one evening a boy and his father were accosted by a mugger. The traumatic moment unlocked some kind of latent power within the boy. Frantically he tried to intervene, skin touched skin, and the assailant’s blood turned to wine, fatal. But not before the cretin dealt a terminal blow to the father. And that night that boy became the hero we all know, Jesus Christ.
If you run your own server (like a country would in this case) you’re the one deciding whether things are allowed to be posted. Of course that doesn’t stop other people from blocking you. But the whole idea is as a sovereign country a private corporation shouldn’t have a say over which posts are seen.
I’ve seen a few people shit talk discord without expanding, so I will: it’s a proprietary “public space” that’s not web searchable. I don’t mind something like a community/subreddit oriented around a physical place, but I try to avoid supporting spaces that are owned by private capital. Of course that’s nearly impossible, but there are degrees of enclosure.
I’ll have you know fish are fucking idiots
I remember watching them and the conversation about them. But that’s different than proof and admission that sentient alien life exists. It’s one thing to suspect while also having other possible explanations (could be secret tech that we or adversary nations developed, could be sensor errors or optical illusions) and another for the president to be like “I want you to meet ambassador Xlurg”
I’m with you. Yes, people acclimate to all kinds of things, but sentient aliens are going to take more than a few days.
I like and use signal, but of course the problem is convincing someone else to start using it in order to send you a message.
It could be a career, or religion. For me I was planning to become a pastor, but then became an atheist. It really did throw me off. In my case I think I’m much happier than I would have been, but do kick myself because I could have been positioned much better if I wasn’t making plans in this other direction.
Every business’s biggest expense is labor. Skilled labor costs more. The people in charge like it when you save money.
I think it’s wrong. But only because the interests of the people who own the machines and businesses diverge from the worker’s interests. I’d like to see more worker cooperatives. If the workers own the machines, then it’s good when things are automated.
I also don’t believe anything will ever be truly automated, or that it’s a good idea to try.
All that to say we don’t have to resort to an explanation of “managers must hate engineers” to understand why they would want to eliminate positions.
I don’t think it’s just managers saying hey we could automate such and such a thing away. It’s human nature to think “how could I improve this” which almost immediately leads to “if I get this right it could mean no work at all”
Devils Tower is really cool.
They fashioned logs to crush AT-AT walkers I think they can manage a dress.
I wrote software scripts that help me at my job and save time. I had taken the course CS50 which is free from Harvard/edx, and that was enough for my purposes. But I’ve also seen people recommend the book “automate the boring stuff”
Even if it doesn’t change locations for you, it does more or less guarantee money is no object (since you could time travel, invest, then go to the future and collect the interest) so you could afford to travel wherever. If you go back far enough I suppose you’d start to run into issues where it takes weeks to cross the ocean or whatever. But that would probably be a less desirable time to vacation. I get future resorts are even better.
If you have a time machine can’t you essentially take a vacation at any resort in any time period? Why limit yourself
Good for you to help someone, genuinely. It’s a little weird you asked a question and then once people answer you try to debate them.
Some homeless people steal. Not saying as a group they all do, but I don’t know which category this stranger falls in. Once inside my house they know the layout and perhaps see things that would be of interest to come back later to steal. Of more concern is I don’t know the mental health of this individual, and I’m less concerned about theft than my family’s safety.
How do you look at mod logs? How am I supposed to know “they have a reputation?” I have no clue what you’re talking about, so for me it’s up for discussion, because my reaction is “what?” If you don’t care to explain that’s fine, but don’t expect every person who comes along to be read into the same stuff you are.
