It feels like the Titanic is an irony magnet. It’s like some cosmic force is still really salty that they called it an “unsinkable ship.”

For example, some of the passengers on this missing submarine:

• The founder of the submarine company who complained about safety regulations, now lost and trapped in his unsafe vessel.
• The Guinness World Record holder for longest time spent traversing the deepest part of the ocean in a single dive will now likely be at the bottom of the ocean forever.
• The director of the company who owns the salvage rights to the Titanic, the company that has brought many artifacts to the surface, now likely leaves its director on the ocean floor with the wreckage.

I figured out yesterday that if you go to the Google cached version, you can still see old posts. If I try it on mobile, the cached option isn’t there, but on my PC I can click the (…) next to the search result, and click the cached option. Trying to figure out how to do that with mobile.

I fully support the blackout and I am trying to keep my Reddit traffic to a minimum, but I was trying to figure out a technical problem yesterday and it was a huge pain to find anything useful. Way too much SEO crap to wade through.

I’m new to Lemmy like most of us are, and so far that comment is the first one I’ve seen that feels like a malfunctioning bot. Can someone with more tech knowledge than me explain if we are going to have a bot problem on Lemmy like we did on Reddit?

I’m imagining every Redditor editing all of their comments to this, and Reddit slowly becoming nothing but “fuck u/spez” as it fades away. Like the last r/place when everything was taken over pixel by pixel with white squares. Kind of bittersweet.
