The sheer lack of ability to read tone on Lemmy baffles me, and any time someone tries to bring it up you get these “that hasn’t happened to me” and “maybe you’re an ass” ahh comments. It really snubs any effort to talk about the problem.

My brother, my dad and I watched it together some 10+ years ago. I think people get too angry about it. Most sitcoms aren’t really funny, BBT isn’t unique. “Oh it has too much of a laugh track” they all do. I also think this idea that the show makes fun of nerd culture gets taken a little too far as well, for the same reason. The characters are sitcom characters. Name any sitcom and there will be dozens of youtube videos about how the characters are horrible to each other and don’t make good decisions. If they were decent, rational people then there wouldn’t be as much drama, so no show.

I think I’ve seen them in some compression shorts so that you can run in loose mesh shorts. Can’t run with your phone in those.

My dad was 50 when I was born. It may be the case that the generational gap between me and him is larger than most of my peers, but that’s not a terribly large issue. There are far worse things than being a bit out of touch. Maybe it’s a wake-up call to take as good care of your health as possible so that you can still be active into your son’s 20’s and maybe even 30’s, but otherwise I don’t really see any great issues.

I think Lemmy is at an all-time low for patience towards non-conformist opinions due to recent events being… upsetting. Give it some time and folks will be more willing to consider other ideas i think
