That’s the way it always seems to work. Watch how fast gun legislation gets put through when a politician’s kid gets caught up in a school shooting.

Watch how fast the conversation changes when the protests aren’t just “radical extremists from the left”.

What’s that line? “Soon, they will have been against this all along…”

  • I’ve been using Chris Titus’s WinUtil : https://github.com/ChrisTitusTech/winutil

I have no idea if it is open source or not, I’m not really sure how to check that. I’m pretty sure that his utility includes shutup10 within it. Regardless, yeah, I should have linked it. Thanks for the reminder. It’s been a fantastic utility and I’ve been very happy with it. Between that and WinAeroTweaker, I have my system set up pretty much precisely how I want it.

I am so close to jumping on the Linux train though. Not for any usability reasons within Windows, as I said, my install is pretty much perfect for my needs at this point. More of a moral stand against a company which I vehemently disagree with their stance and actions in the world. The only problem I keep coming back to is that 1 or 2 of my games won’t work on Linux due to anti-cheat bs. That’s pretty much my only sticking point now.

I had one of those “LightScribe” burners. I think I only used it a couple of times because the media was much more expensive than standard CD-R and I didn’t care enough to get good at it. It was just a slow extra step when I’m trying to burn a quick cd before I head to the bus stop in the morning.

Funnily, burning the lightscribe cd was faster than the first mp3 player I had. My first mp3 player was a Creative something or other with 32mb of storage. Adding the ~15 songs you could fit on it took fucking donkey’s years.

  • It’s right around the time that you realize your parents were just doing the best they could and didn’t know how to “adult” either that you start to understand that you’re destined to do the same thing. We’re all just making it up as we go and hoping to do better than the previous generation. Generation after generation built upon the knowledge of iteration.

So yeah, mentally, I don’t feel significantly different than I have at any other time in the past twenty years, aside from knowledge and experience, but I also realize that I’m viewed significantly different by others, so you kind of have to act the part and fake it till you make it.
