I’m just concerned about what happens if things start to go really badly for the Russians. Nothing good can come of a nuclear superpower that feels threatened and backed into a corner, either by the enemy or their own populace.

We seem to be heading in a terrifyingly similar direction

This is what we plan to do. Makes no sense to throw all that money away for a silly ceremony where you’re bound by what everyone else expects of you. We’d rather do something special for ourselves.

It’s difficult not to extrapolate the U.S’s current trajectory to something approximating Taliban-rule. It feels like it relative to what the old-normal was.
