Nothing new here. Russian subterfuge is a staple of their government’s external workings for most of their history. I say this as a Pole whose country has a history of being preyed on by russian propaganda and covert ops anytime the russian state decided it wanted to go imperial.

I feel u. This is all fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) which is actively disseminated by bad faith actors trying to weaken the country from within. A culture which fears itself is ineffective. Keeping in mind that we are all apart of the same culture whether we like it or not, it is important that the energy u project back into the culture at large be one of love, kindness, good-nature, and trust.

A lot of the youth saying these things u bring up are convinced that this it, the revolution theyve been hearing about and that there is no other way but to feed into the bull. Good on u to push back, and do ur best to not give into the negative emotions projected but to put back in something more constructive.

If the revolution were to truly happen, it will not be fought with guns, but by holding our surplus value hostage. We cannot defeat a militarized police or surveillance state govt via violence, but we can via economic warfare- and in that sort of conflict, love, kindness, good-nature, trust- solidarity- will be indisposable and key to not only winning, but surviving out right as well.

I make music, primarily, but i also bounce a lot. I really love writing, which comes easier than music tho i do it less. Past that hiking is like an “as often as possible or my mind will break” thing. Even our tiny local park is nice for this purpose, but i try to get around as much as im able. Like, i grew up in a… er- lets just say i grew up in an environment to say the least. I was hateful and bigotted towards lots of groups bc i was sad, downtrodden, and felt undervalued. Of all things to make me actually turn it around, the thing that really did it, was being called a white supremacist to my face by one of the few kind people i got on with. The kicker was, there was 2 ppl that said it. One was the one i preffered talking to, the other i put down as a suburban redneck.

My god did that sting. I didnt look em in the eye the rest of the school year. Really got me thinking, how can these two see this in me? How could the redneck be able to hold this over me? I didnt even say anything that bad. (spoiler, i did)

But long story short, that def did the trick. Or kicked it off, anyway. Thats whats supposed to happen to extremist opinions. They get brought up in public, and u get shamed and put down, not for being you, but exclusively that shitty opinion, bc that opinion has no place in the world.

I guess the chatbot provides that. Weirdly uplifting. If incels are deradicalized by a sexbot, tho, itll be weird to think that in the end what saved them, was the very horniness that got them radicalized in the first place.

Im not gonna try and sway u, but im thrilled u tried and went with whats best. I make music and the DAWs on linux are… ill not say… so i do get it. I could run on a VM, but due to the size of the projects im running, ive yet to try it for fear of the VM or the DAW within it crashing. Its the one thing that i do all the time that forces me to keep my dual booting PC’s windows partition, tho it aggrevates me so. So im doing kinda what u said, Linux is my “everything but music” OS, and windows is dedicated to just that and literally nothing else. I literally only installed firefox on it prolly a year after installing windows due to it not being used for that purpose.

This is not as true as it once was. Not a gamer, so i cant direct you in the best direction, but im aware that people are running the steam deck, or gog, or installing Windows on a VM on their Linux.

The worst thing Linux has going for it, is that it involves taking a leap of faith that, evidently, most are not willing to take. Theres been 20 years of “Linux complicated, not for the average joe” that most of us have had ingrained in us for a while. My initial comment was more of a joke trying to poke fun of that very notion. Its more of an option than its ever been, to the extent that even running games isnt a dealbreaker anymore. In my experience, i started dual booting Mint and Windows sometime between 5-10 yrs ago and very quickly realized that theres very little I truly need Windows for. Im not that tech savvy, i cant code, the linux terminal is daunting and i dont use it for installing all my software. Just before the plunge, i didnt know about partitions; today, i still dont understand what "kernel* fully means, regardless of how many times ive heard it explained.

Somehow someway, it turned out that after everything i always heard, there was a hardly a learning curve in using Mint bc it was so similar to what i already knew. Before id spend hrs cleaning things that refused to delete off of Windows, or learning to deal with viruses, or just getting past the babyproofing Microsoft intentionally includes in their OS. That meant that i hsd the time and spare brain power to look up the (usually simple) solutions to anything that was new and unexpected about Mint. In the case of a gamer, the time u lose on Windows bs (even tho u typically dont notice until u try a less greedy OS) is more than enough to learn how to game on Linux. And if thats not enough, i still would recommend dual booting due to the lightweight nature of Linux and how much more enjoyable simply internet or file browsing is on Mint.
