If he had been a hit I expect he would have been in the VP slot. I think/expect he’ll fade away into lucrative consulting gigs and rake in the dough.

You’re right in concept but DeSantis utterly fizzled nationally. Even in Florida he’s aging like last week’s fish.
Elian lost his mother coming here and was living with relatives in Miami. His Cuban father (rightfully, in my opinion) wanted him back. His family here reasonably argued that his mother’s last act was to bring him to the US and hence he should remain.
The legal battle and ultimate decision he was to be sent back traumatized an innocent kid, but it’s not the same. The US was in the middle of a family fight where both sides were asserting viable arguments and the kid was a pawn. I don’t see that being a US policy mistake.
Simply put if the population centers alone are considered cities decide elections.
It was deemed unfair to let that be because the rural/farm areas would have no say…so they over corrected and created a system which leaves a few generally smaller states decide.
So Iowa and New Hanpshire have undue influence on primaries and hence the candidates nominated and PA, GA, WI, MI and perhaps FL decide the election (and in FL on again the higher population in citities are out-influenced by the far less populous but more numerous rural counties in the same way).
Basically good(ish) or perhaps cynical intentions and unintended consequences.
Ironically in any just reality this would put precisely such policies to the test and reveal the inability of law enforcement to distinguish between a threat and a open carry gun-toting “good guy” and undermine the flawed logic that armed people reduce the likelihood of violence.
I don’t expect to in FL but would be nice.
Well sure I’ve never tested it going highway speed but if I don’t fully close the door and try to pull out of a parking spot it moves like an inch then says “nope”. But my post was to at least alert the driver that the thing was not locked down - that seems pretty simple.
My ten year old basic model sedan will jerk to a halt and put the transmission in Park if I try to move with the driver door not fully closed. I’d think a semi would be able to detect and alert that the damn dumper (?) is extended. Wow.

If you think the Eastland Steamer is a story you should check out the Cleveland Steamer.
Thought #2….maybe don’t.
They still killed Reedy Creek which I still find surprising.
