No, you’ve forgotten that the police are the armed defenders of capital and the state, and they do not exist to serve you, never have, never will. And that this is valid for every state, not just the united ones of America (of course gun culture and generally being ahead in the race towards fascism makes America worse than many, I’m not denying that, my point is that the police as a concept exist to supress and oppress civilians in defence of capital and the state).

Not trying to be pedantic, I just think it’s really important to remember that that’s what the police have always been for.

I think that stuff (those in power manipulating public opinion for their own ends by whatever means necessary) has always happened, but the access to and use of technology has definitely upped the game significantly, so yeah, I agree.

Edit to add: I watched it for the first time in my teens, and I think it had a deep impact on how I view politics and the media, and the relationship between them.

No, and while less food waste is a positive, from what I can find even in France it is only illegal for fresh food retailers (who are only responsible for 14% of waste, and also get massive tax breaks for the pleasure of donating it), not manufacturers (agriculture, processing plants, restaurants, collectively responsible for at least 67% of waste), and for insight in to why, here is an excerpt from 1939 book The Grapes of Wrath:

My mandatory Sky: Children of the Light mention.

Lots of exploring and cooperating with irl co-players (E: you’d have to play on different devices, but one could play on a big screen, and the other can join and use their handheld mostly as a controller) and strangers, some puzzles/quests, some mild scary/dangerous parts, lots of lore, incredible graphics and good soundtrack. It’s an open ended game (though some features only become available after your first complete run through) and there is an aspect of grinding if you want to get IGC for cosmetics but you’re doing it flying through this gorgeous landscape, and there is a daily cap so you can be pretty chill about it, and IAP are pretty easy to avoid (for me anyway) and are never necessary for gameplay.

There are some issues with bugs, and the company growing and decisions clearly being made by shareholders rather then developers, but at this point it is still absolutely worth playing.

Incidentally… am I having federation issues? This is the only comment I see mentioning Ripley. I see 11 comments currently…

There are others that come to mind from more obscure movies I’ve watched more recently, like the women in Grandma (2015), Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020), and even Men (2022), also non-fictional women like those in Kokomo City (2023). There are so many more I can picture in my mind but can’t put my finger on the movie and or am just shit with names so I can’t think of them right now, but might come back to update.

Ha, fair enough, still not sure alcohol and chocolate are comparable in terms of addiction, but mostly poking fun, don’t worry about it…
