What is the benefit of putting a git repo site on activity pub? It’s not like the underlying git repos are shared that way. I don’t get why this would be a lift for hosted repositories. I’m certainly not storing my code on Jim’s basement server.io
A leftist entering their middle age and becoming more punk with every year

This is the dumbest thing I’ve read this year.
These things are not mutually exclusive. The fact that Russian propaganda bots swayed a large percentage of American republican fascists in no way debunks the bots. It just means that it was an effective propaganda campaign.
Go easy on the thesaurus, kid.
Always the hallmark of a real contender. Oh, did I say “hallmark”? Hope that doesn’t cause you to stumble. “Stumble” means to trip while walking; in this case it’s a metaphor for thinking.
Hope that was clear enough for you.
Nice strawman argument
Huh. Considering the primary point of the video was how open signups are bad, I don’t know why you contradicted your comment on the other thread and said this video has no valid point.
So nice self-contradiction I guess?
Lol, if you think that absolutely open sign ups on instances isn’t a problem, then thanks for advertising the bankruptcy of your opinions
Respecting democratic norms is very important. That said, I don’t know that citing US imperialist clout is the best way to get the so-called American “left” behind the incumbent administration if said voter were already looking elsewhere or not planning to vote
PBS NOVA is great. That playlist has 20 documentaries on it about a range of topics, most just under an hour long, one that is just under two hours long.
Even if we do bootstrap AGI. why do you think it’d become a singular central authority? And maybe you should update your fantasies. If you want a pretty glorious look at the concept of space habitats as havens for the spectrum of cultural modes humans can create, I recommend Alistair Reynolds The Prefect, which takes place in the Glitter Band, an environ of thousands of space habitats in the Epsilon Eridani system
In the decentralized network of the fediverse where freedom of association is king, you’re free to start your own instance that will federate with everybody. Of course, the other admins are as free as you are and may decide to not federate with you. Such is that degree of freedom.
The only objective purpose in life is to spread your genes.
Not even that. It’s not like you’ve failed at life if you don’t have kids. You just haven’t spread your genetic information. Saying that its your purpose to spread them implies it’s the genes purpose to be spread. Genes simply are, they don’t have a purpose just like you don’t; evolution has just given organisms behaviors and mechanisms that make it very likely that they will be regardless of that lack of purpose.
There’s a Wikipedia page for that: Vandalism on Wikipedia. The short answer is that they don’t allow it, it’s done by malicious editors and it’s something they have been combating since its inception.
Maybe it’s just a carryover from my time in reddit where I never ever chose to look at /r/all but y’all are making me glad I stick to just my subscribed feed
Honestly? Questions like this one
This is perfect for /c/Antiwork, do you mind if I cross post this?
Nope. Deleted my account as soon as I heard about the API pricing and never looked back. As far as I was and still am concerned, even if they backtracked the API bullshit the writing is on the wall: reddit no longer cares about providing value to users, if they ever did. They’re no in the endgame of enshittification of trying to extract value from anywhere they can, quality of service be damned.
If your other post of the exact same thing didn’t make the impression, let me be clear: this is not the platform for you to simp for that peice of shit. Take the not-subtle hint of all the down votes and go defend misogynists on 4chan or some other shit hole of the internet
I’ve found Mastodon helpful for this
From How Long do Fossils Take to Form? by Raul Esperante at the Geoscience Research Institute (this is the second to last paragraph):
Contrary to what many people believe, permineralization may not take a long time. Given the right geochemical conditions during burial, permineralization can occur rapidly: ranging from within a few hours to a few years, depending on the size and nature of the original material. Scientists have reported fossilized embryos of echinoderms (sea urchins), which are extremely delicate structures. Experiments carried out to replicate those fossilized embryos show that fossilization happened in a very short span of time.[7] Experiments show that mineralization of soft tissue of shrimp with calcium phosphate mediated by bacterial decomposition may start in a few days and increase in 4 to 8 weeks after death, possibly leading to fossilization.[8] This is an example of fossilization involving mineral precipitation that occurs during the decay process caused by bacteria. The British paleontologists David Martill studied in detail the preservation of fishes and other animals in rocks of the Lower Cretaceous of the Chapada do Araripe, north-east Brazil, and found that they have preserved the most delicate structures known in the fossil record. Gills, muscles, stomachs and even eggs with yolks have been found. These are cases of exceptional preservation by phosphatization—mineralization by calcium phosphate. Martill concludes that many of the fine details preserved in those fossils became mineralized within a span of time of 5 hours or less after death, and calls this instantaneous fossilization.[9] I have studied fossils of whales in the Pisco Formation in Peru in which the baleen structure (the filtering organ in the mouth of the whales) has been partially mineralized and preserved in anatomical position, which is a case of exceptional preservation because baleen is not bony tissue and is not rooted in the maxillary. Baleen tends to detach from the whale and decay rather quickly after death, nevertheless it is preserved in life position in many of those fossil specimens. I have suggested that the whales must have been rapidly buried and the baleen rapidly mineralized in order to become preserved.[10]
Celebrity Death Match, please
I didn’t realize people were hating on Timberlake, but I did find this
