I took a getaway vacation with a woman I had been dating for 3 months. We got back and haven’t corresponded since then. That was a few years ago.

Oh, I wasn’t taking it any kind of bad way! I was just adding context that yeah, we’ve got funny user names, but I also genuinely think the fartographer is a pretty cool human in general.

I think the fartographer is a neat person. We’ve discussed Texas stuff and checked on each other during the hurricane. When I get the opportunity it’s always a nice conversation. That’s the closest thing I have to a friend on Lemmy.

So it’s definitely a good day for me.

I had to go look back at who posted this comment (I don’t usually look) and I knew it was going to be you.

I’ve taken my special needs nephews there and it’s amazing. They both loved the Ferris wheel so I had to ride it what felt like a hundred times. Even the regular ticket prices are really good for the quality of the place.

I agree with this. Reagan was culpable because he was the damn boss. H.W., Olly North, and a bunch of others were doing all kinds of fucked up shit while he smiled for the camera.

I think the same thing about Bush Jr.'s time in office. He “aww shucked” his way through shit while Cheney and the crew did irreparable damage. I don’t think either of them felt strongly about anything that didn’t personally affect them and they allowed the road to the 2016 shitshow.

H.W. was the only conservative who held the reigns while he was president in the last 4 decades and he wasn’t likable enough by the base to get a second term. That’s why they put up “aww shucks” and a crazy demagogue that they could manipulate. Don’t get me wrong, Trump is evil. He just doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together to do the damage that the federalist society and project 2025 wanted/wants all by himself.

Thirded. And even when I got control, I had a better time in my late 30s than I did at any time prior to that. I had a lot of absolutely great misadventures in my 20s and I’ll be forever grateful. But in my late 30s I had the wisdom to know what bullshit I could get into and out of, enough money to do it, a body that wasn’t beat to hell just yet, and very few shits to give.

Things started to even out at 40 and have been pretty steady the last couple of years. It’s amazing in a different way.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but if I were giving advice to 15 year old me I would definitely say that the best is yet to come. Just gotta keep your eyes peeled for the opportunity.

Me either. A lot of people are saying he was cleared but honestly that’s not entirely…uh…clear whether that’s true.

I get that. There’s more to it than I mentioned and I don’t think we’ll ever know the truth because the story petered out when he sued them for slander/libel/whatever in France. He claims the women skipped the country rather than facing that, and that the court told him he has no case to answer to. No news outlets reported on it and there’s really no info that I could find that didn’t link back to his Facebook page. So he could have filed that to slap them down, or he could legitimately be innocent.

I don’t know and I can’t decide for anyone else whether they should watch. I’m on the fence about it currently but I have a few years to ruminate on it before making a decision so I’m in no hurry. Likely I won’t watch it either but it depends on if anything else comes out about it.

I was sure we’d never see this after the domestic abuse allegations.
