I have tried to jumpstart a few communities by posting and commenting regularly . I would try a new one, but if people do not find or join, it will get caught in the same cycle as the existing groups. I like participating, but am not interested in being the single driving force, or moderating.

To answer your other question, I cannot stand when I see auto mirrored content from Reddit. I usually ignore those posts, as I have rarely seen comments happening. When the content wasn’t created by somebody here, I don’t think anybody is invested in maintaining or participating in the discussion.

I think you may have misunderstood. I have FOUND communities, but there is not much engagement or activity. I have resorted to discord channels for most of them, but it is not the same.

Some of my most active subreddits were different 3d printing and 3d modeling groups, groups for games like Overwatch, and Payday. Different AI focused groups, but specifically groups like the Stable Diffusion sub, Subreddits that discuss my favorite shows, or styles of music. None of that is active here. It isn’t that they don’t exist on Lemmy, they are just ghost towns. I joined multiple instances and am very active and engaged on multiple accounts, on some of these groups - but there is not response. I was in the top 3% of karma earners on Reddit - and I did that by submitting and commenting a lot. That just doesn’t happen here (yet).

I gotta be honest…I am hanging on by a threat. The communities that I was engaged with on Reddit before the Snoopacolypse were pretty niche. I wasn’t there for r/funny or r/videos, etc. I found similar communities on Lemmy, but they have soooooo little activity. I have to modify my sort just to see content, as its so old. When there are posts, they typically get very little discussion.

I am on Lem.ee, and I have the hardest time posting anything from mobile. It looks like it fails, and if I sort by new, it isn’t there and never shows up - HOWEVER, I start getting replies, so someone is seeing it somehow.

I detest what reddit did and is still doing - but Lemmy is not filling that void for me, and its frustrating.

Thanks. Oddly enough, the most recent release of InvokeAI fixed the problem I was having. My 8gb 3070 can run SDXL in about 30 seconds now. It seems to take a little bit to clear everything in-between generations though. I want to move up to a 12/24 gb GPU, but am waiting/hoping for the price crash.

I am not in the programming world - and it was a struggled to use the little bit of python/conda I needed to install webui. What does this mean for casual users? What is the benefit to the C++? The documentation doesn’t help me undestand.

Is there a driver version that I can downgrade to? I just cannot do Comfy. I gave it a good try. I have used GRisk, Auto, and Invoke and liked them all - I just cannot get used to Comfy.

Yeah it’s very odd. I tried comfyUI. I but the interface just doesn’t click with me.

I keep waiting for invoke AI to have an auto installer for that model but they are still only offering the SDXL .9 and I don’t have a token for that model.

I was having a hard time finding it again…turns out it was the AI-trepeneur channel. At first it does seem like he’s just going to point everyone towards his patreon, but he does go into the manual process later on in the video.

Good point. I watched a Nerdy Rodent video about installing it, and he showed that he used the sdxl_base_vae and sdxl_refiner_vae safetensors, and that is all he copied over. No other files. I went back to the repository and pulled those two file and put them in my checkpoint folder. I reloaded my web user bat file and I got the new checkpoint to load. It took about a minute. I got one image to generate at 1024x1024 but it took about 3 minutes to generate. It looked normal, but I cannot help but think it should be a bit faster than that. But then I noticed my whole machine tanked when running it. It bogged down all 32gb of my ram, and it was showing my gpu was barely doing anything. Maybe there is some kind of memory leak. I may have to check my gpu drivers to see if something is going on.

Are those vae safetensors the only files I need? The tuturial didn’t talk about the lora offset or the vae files…so I didn’t add them this last time.

I have mine auto set to git pull each load. Can you confirm, since you have it working…what files do I actually need - is it just the base, refiner, lora and vae?

I tried ComyfyUI last night - but, unless I am just missing something, I couln’t get past the workflow screen. Thanks for the tip, I will keep tinkering with things.

I tried InvokeAI, but was having the same problem. I got the safetensor directly from Stability AI’s hugging face page - so I have to be doing something wrong…3 different UIs and I couldn’t get any to work. I am losing my technical aptitude :)

I don’t believe they do… But that’s not a setting I have looked for. I like the stock pixel notification and quick settings pull down menus.

I have used many over the years. Lots of great ones, but it came down to taste for me. A few faves were Niagara, Nova, Lawnchair and the stock Pixel launcher. But for the last few months, I have gone back to Square Home. I was a huge Windows Phone enthusiast, so I just really wanted to go back to that vibe. It took a decent amount of time to get it set up and exactly how I wanted. Worth a try if you want something different.
