Yep, never came to updating the site, it’s my email/network domain. Maybe Imshould change the 1 into a 2 ;)

No need to limit yourself to US tld’s, country ones for funny domains can be stable as well. My domain koffie.nu (coffee.now in Dutch), registered in '98, is still going strong. I just hope the rising sealevel won’t wipe away the country any time soon.
I’m not sure about the latter. I get drowsy when drunk and fall asleep. Others have a ‘bad drunk’ and get violent.
You could build something that prevents people from being offended. Let them answer simple questions like are you offenden by . If they answer yes, no allowed to join.
I get the feeling that more and more snowflakes are easily offended and the nastiness is partly trolling as they like to offend. (and sometimes the offended like to be offended)
Maybe the only solution is sulfuric acid. (or alcohol)
Make it impossible for people to use it?
Wherever there are people, there will be nastiness. No matter the reason, some are jerks just because they can.
That’s the method I use now, works nicely.
There is a list of fediverse apps available, not yet for projects in start up. (Or I haven’t found it yet)
Now I’m curious, anybody working on a discogs alternative?
I was messing up with my community, added the description pretty early, just completed the whole shebang with rules, game season info, links,…
Yes, it’s a continuation attampt of the reddit variant, as it looks like the other mods have left that sub as well. I’m still there, lurking, but it’s dying after a vote to stay. The main contributers went silent there and moved to the community discord server.
No problems here.
BTW every program has at least 1 bug and can be 1 line of code shorter. ;)
Users: Lack of knowledge
Companies: We can’t bleed the users dry
They haven’t made a decision, as it’s no issue as there is no federation to threads and won’t be for the forseeable future.
Making a fuss about it now is as usefull as making a fuss over the sun dying in several million years.
When that’s the case, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to migrate communities, so when an adminndecides to quit an instance, those communities that want to move can arrange that move.
Sounds interesting, testing here as well, adding allstartrek to both mastodon and lemmy account here (going boldly into the unknown ;) )
Curious if there will be anything to see.
This site, lemmy.world is managed by @ruud from The Nethlands and hosted in Helsinky (guessing Hetzner, that’s where my Helsinky server is from).
Non-US was as I believe the main reason for this setup.
Totally agree.
For the forum options that are on the internet, I see it evolve from loads of self hosted fora (loads of accounts) to one central environment (1 ceo to rule them all) to federated. This is how everything seems to evolve as well, internet, political systems as well as how countries stand in the world. Can’t wait to see where it all leads. (and kick-off a few instances myself)
Why are houses being raided over a protest?
FBI: Because we can
I’m still on irc, efnet. ;)
In the r/CRSRacing2 sub (which I mod, kinda, until I can’t anymore) the karma is used to stop new joiners to ask the standard questions that are answered in the 1st post the get to see… (pinned)
But that’s about the only use I can think of. (other then useless bragging rights)
Welcome and have fun.
