Damn, hackers are being really uncool towards lemmy.world. Hopefully some good can come from this and they can implement robust security systems that help protect Lemmy instances from these types of attacks.

I think a lot of us have been there before, it’s part of the learning process. Jimmy will find his way.
40C is a decently warm idle temperature, is your cooling system powerful enough?
Oh crap, I forgot which asklemmy I’m on, I’m a dumbass.
Indeed. I’m certain they exist, but it’s a case of needing to research which organizations are reputable and respected for their certifications.
Fully agreed.
Indeed, right now we’re one of if not the largest questions community, even larger than !asklemmy@lemmy.ml, so there are more resources here than other places.
Currently, we’re being a little more lax with the support questions because of how new Lemmy is. Once the platform has matured a bit more, we’ll move to being more strict about enforcing our rules on support questions.
Edit: Ignore me, I’m a dumbass and forgot which instance I’m looking at.
If you are wanting to move into a more programming oriented career, then I would say that while a college degree is useful it is by no means required. One of the things that you could do is complete a certification course and then apply for an entry level position, you’ll take a pay cut but unfortunately that’s common when changing careers. What type of work are you currently hope to move into?
Threads is new but not novel. It’s essentially just Meta Twitter and is using Facebook and Instagram to give it automatic momentum.
Indeed, no one has heard anything yet. It’s very strange, I hope the VLemmy admin is ok.
That’s really cool. This is a good use-case example of Mastadon, the government can run its own official instance for announcements and information without impacting other instances
It could also be that they never implemented custom emoticons, which are what caused the security issue. Even still, I would recommend confirming with your server admin.
I think it was 15 or 16 in the days before it fell.
The sudden death of VLemmy and temporary closing of lemmy.world pushed a bunch of people here I think.
Tech enthusiasts tend to make up the early adopters of a new social media platform, and programmers tend to have some level of passion for technology.
Hopefully, something will come up soon about what happened to it. It’s a definite shame that it dropped so quickly, it’s been a really good instance up to this point.
Good bot. These links are more useful, it’s good to try and get people in the habit of using them.
I remember earlier today the admin made an announcement post about defederating from burgitt.moe and purging their illicit material from the servers, in order to stay in compliance with Irish law. It’s possible that’s what the downtime is for, but I’m not sure.
In all honesty, I can see your comments from lemm.ee. I wonder if lemmy.world is back up now.
