To be honest I’d feel stupid saying that alout at anyone. They’re not called that in my native language - I think.
Both spoons are the same size. Different size ones wouldn’t fit together like that.
It only sounds bad to the fringest of the fringe that’s deceivingly loud on twitter. Good luck trying to find even one real person thinking those terms should be changed. This kind of stuff is why people vote for Trump.
By using Lemmy we’re already filtering out certain people and opinions. I personally think that the more control we have over what we see, the better. I don’t think it’s opposing views people want to filter out. It’s the ones having those views and being dicks about it.
Unavoidably so but then again, going sideways because of a downvote is just more data on who you might want to block.
Echo chamber within echo chamber I guess.
It’s not the people whose opinions I disagree with who I usually block. It’s people making snide comments like this while fishing for upvotes. I’ll reserve my attention to the ones who have something to say rather than ones just wanting to make noise.
If this mean we’d be able to see who has up- / downvoted a comment on our own and possibly on other people’s posts then I’m all for it. This would be highly useful at filtering out the people here I want nothing to do with.
AI will be only be able to produce art that already exists or realism.
Well, that is not true at all.
Generative AI isn’t just limited to imitating or copying existing art. It’s fully capable of creating original pieces, much like humans do. Sure, AI models learn from large datasets of existing art, but that doesn’t mean they’re limited to mere copying. Instead, they take these inputs, find patterns, blend concepts, and can then generate something entirely new. This isn’t too different from how human artists operate. They too absorb influences from the world and other pieces of art and generate new ones based on that. Nobody is creating art in a vacuum.
The additional benefit AI has is not being tied down by existing concepts. Human creativity often gets shaped by cultural trends or personal experiences, but AI can step outside those constraints, giving us a fresh take on art and creativity in ways that many human artists can’t. Not to even mention that you need a human in the loop to write the prompt. AI doesn’t create art alone no more than a paint brush does.
My possibly unpopular opinion is that just using water is probably more than sufficient unless you’ve been handling something that has visibly stained your hands. Some level of “dirt” on your hands is probably better for your immune system than perfectly clean ones. I’ve never been much of a hand washer myself. I use my hands a lot, I touch everything, I don’t wear gloves at work and I bite my nails. Yesterday I pulled carrots from the ground and rubbed worst of the soil away onto grass and ate them like that. I can’t help but feel that behavior like this is to thank for the fact that I’m never sick and I have zero allergies or food intolerances.
Ukraine struggles to repel the constant attacks on the eastern front so by attacking Russia in the north, it forces them to move troops from elsewhere thus making them to stop the attacks due to lack of manpower and go on defence instead. This eases the pressure on the Ukrainian defenders.
This newly acquired land is also something they can use to trade back parts of their own land if and when the peace negotitations start.
It also further diminishes the credibility of the Russian army and leadership.
Seems far more likely that the recycling rate is low because not every piece of plastic waste is put into recycling. Not that they simply don’t recycle it.
That assumes the plastic is already being collected, so why not just make new products from it instead of dumping it into the ground and then using even more oil to make new plastic?
That’s a bit cynical take. In many countries, including mine, there are dedicate bins for plastic waste which is the majority of waste from your typical household. It’s all being recycled into new products, not being shipped anywhere. Also, when it comes to plastic bottles for example, close to 100% of them are returned and recycled into new bottles. I’ve got a tiny-ass bin for the stuff that ends up in landfill because I separate and recycle it all as does most other people.
EDIT: Nevermind then. It’s all apparently dumped into the ocean. Sorry about the attempt in some positivity.
We each have our problems but I have to admit that I haven’t heard many positive news coming from there recently.
The way I think about it is that we’re all “snowflakes”. No two people are exactly the same. So while one can correctly claim to be unique that also applies to everyone else. It’s not like everyone else is the same but you’re unique. Also, being unique doesn’t automatically mean someone is better than others - one can also be uniquely bad.
I haven’t claimed it doesn’t imply fragility too. Just that the uniqueness is the primary meaning of it - thus the term snowflake. “I’m unique and thus deserving of special treatment”
If it was primarily about fragility then we’d probably be using some other term as that is not generally the first feature that comes to mind about snowflakes.
Wikipedia and most dictionary definitions talk about uniqueness. Each snowflake is unique. That’s what most people mean by it.
Snowflake is a derogatory slang term for a person, implying that they have an inflated sense of uniqueness, an unwarranted sense of entitlement, or are overly emotional, easily offended, and unable to deal with opposing opinions.
You are not special. You are not beautiful or unique snowflake. Quote from the novel “Fight Club”
It doesn’t. It implies that being unique is a bad thing.
But how do we hate-follow Elon then? We need our daily dose of outrage after all.
Why isn’t there more incel violence?
So in other words; in the past such men would have taken their frustration to the streets. Gathering into groups of other such men and causing trouble, kicking grannies and such. Nowdays they instead retreat into their mom’s basements smoking weed, playing video games and watching porn.
