Celeste’s gameplay absolutely has narrative meaning as well. You are climbing the mountain of depression. Not the most subtle or complicated metaphor, but it’s there and it is effective.

Every player is different, every DM is different. Thats why communication at the top is important, if you want to get heavily in to character and roleplay a detective mystery in the tavern, let your DM know that.

Deathloop was clearly rushed, but I still loved the gameplay and freedom to tackle things in many ways. It needed more time and money to meet the ambition of its design, and it was an early warning sign of the state of Arkane.
