That’s what post-its are for!
Inflation is great to keep the stock market afloat. That’s about its only redeeming quality. The reason that most economists like inflation is the false premise that people will stop spending money if money starts increasing in value… but the vast majority of people are going to spend their money one way or another, cause they can’t just stop buying food or paying for rent… and they’re not going to skip out on what little fun they can have because it might be a little cheaper later.
Deflation is bad for the rich. Because it means their non-monetary assets are suddenly worth less.
Re-read my comment and re-think your own.
I am forever mystified by the internets inability to link simple concepts together.
That’s in large part due to the machinations of the Emperor, though. They were a para-military policing force throughout the galaxy before the fall of the Republic. Those planets who don’t get a lot of interaction with the Republic (like Tatooine) are probably going to have less direct interaction… but they’ll still have some familiarity with the overall concept that doesn’t lean heavily into grandiose myth.
I don’t disagree that there should be more non-jedi focused stories… but I do have a problem with this:
that story got told, over 40 years ago, by the first three star wars films
A story was told. That doesn’t mean every story that could involve jedi has been told. Just the same one rehashed multiple times. Different stories, focusing on different aspects of that same mythos without retreading the same ground (again), can still be told. It just requires more risk, which is why it hasn’t been tried as much.
It doesn’t help that, because of forty years of history, people are attached to these characters and stories. They want to explore more of that. I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing… unfortunately there is a lack of focused direction that has made it difficult to continue it with any kind of stable quality.
I think I first heard it in Scrubs, but it could have been either.
Maybe not for you, but its much more interesting for me, as it gives more info than “if you think about it, old things are old”
If you break down that far, isn’t everything as old as the universe?
Spider-Man Noir.
I mean, trying to prove your own theory by being the perfect case study seems a little extreme…
You make a good case for your own argument.
How would you be able to tell there are more bees without mathematics?
They’re a little tall for a stormtrooper.
Shal’kek nem’ron!
We haven’t seen Cousin It yet, right?
The thing is… they don’t want something that destroys on that scale. Theyre not about destruction, they’re about assimilation and absorption. Having a huge laser that destroys a planet in a single shot simply isn’t something they’d ever use.
They also have thousands of disposable fighters, which aren’t nearly as common in the Star Trek universe.
Everyone focuses on the giant death laser… but it’s also a massive garrison. You’d need more than a couple borg ships to overwhelm the death star (assuming a more realistic reaction than what’s shown in New Hope).
Don’t worry, they’ll still use your data.
