I don’t know if it’s different in the US but in Germany the local movie rental joints were usually split into a family and an adult section. I was always interested in horror and violent movies but to get to them you also had to go through all the really nasty porn movie shelves with the weird old dudes browsing them. I mean I like porn as well but these stores had really disgusting stuff…

It’s late here and I’m tired so I first read “I sleep in the poo of god” and thought about it for a while before reading the rest of the sentence and then reading the whole thing again…

One of my employeers had a multiple megabytes SPA with a shitload of dependencies (Angular) in production that was just a glorified upload form. All the heavy lifting and verification was done by the backend anyways and it was a pain to upgrade, especially with angular major updates etc.
Since we replaced it with a vanilla HTML upload form and some templating to display feedback from the backend no more maintenance was necessary and the users and testers where still happy.
Well it’s correct behavior. Websites from the 90s should load instantly now. Any website loading longer should deliver some amazing content that was impossible in the 90s
Why do websites have to ship 12 MB of JavaScript before they even start to load? In lots of cases SPA have no benefits for the user and just make everything bloated and complex as hell and due to the insanity of the JavaScript packaging also super hard to keep safe / up to date.
I understand that there’s a two digit solution if a three digit solution exists but not for which problem and why that’s relevant or interesting for anything.
Also, I keep confusing the Unabomber with the Killdozer guy…
I see. I believe that’s a big problem since it’s hard to avoid or “punish” them by boycott. They will just appear again under a different name.
I see. Thank you. A website is at least a little more effort than just printing a label on the product.
Thank you. I actually own a 8bitdo controller and had no idea they are Chinese. Never heard of fiio, thank you for the link.

Das stammt doch aus irgendeinem Film… habe aber vergessen, welcher es war.

Yeah and they can get pretty loud (bumping of shells and moaning)

While your country seems very tense with nudity and alcohol, Germany was very tense with violence and weapons.
Eg there were usually special German versions of video games where blood and gore are removed. E.g. the special forces in Half Life are robots in the German version. The pedestrians in Carmageddon are also robots. I believe BioShock has certain animations removed. Wolfenstein has the Nazi symbols removed and at computer markets they only showed the Christmas edition where you fought against snowmen.
Movies also exist in a German cut where e.g. RoboCop has like 15 minutes removed.
Many movies where also “forbidden” and could not be advertised and I believe only sold if explicitly asked for by a customer.
The whole situation has relaxed lately, I believe shortly after it was easy to obtain international version via the Internet.
