I am Italian and, living in Scandinavia, apart from being mostly disgusted by the other chocolate spreads, I am always very surprised to see the office managers, offering breakfasts on select days, defaulting to a teaspoon in the Nutella jar.

I grew up with a taboo for that and the only way I would ever have Nutella is by scraping some with a knife-side and spreading it thinly on a slice of bread.

It’s funny to see people do such things and then coming with the question: “you Italians have pasta, pizza and Nutella and you still manage to be so thin. How?!”

I also started a book club focused on sci-fi and non-fiction about technology and digital rights, to force myself to start reading again, since I noticed a sharp degradation of my ability to express myself and to analyze discourse.

Finally, I am learning French as my fifth language.

I would love to say I am doing great for being 40+, but mental health and zero social life affect me more than I would like to admit.

Were you really waiting for me to name Silicon Valley? The most educational TV series ever made in this day and age, fun like very few others and quotable to hell and back.

That said, why am I seeing this on !world@lemmy.world ? It is not about anywhere else in the world specifically and it is not even news.

I know that in the rules it says only opinion pieces are potentially removed, but the fact that this “needs” to be published here makes the problem two-fold:

1. it creates noise in the community where I would like to see news from anywhere else in the world than the US.
2. it means that who posted it here thinks there is no other community where this actually would fit? Looking at the crossposts the other 2 communities (Technology and WomensStuff) seem way more fitting.

Putting everything everywhere doesn’t help communities grow. It just generates noise.

Not what I was suggesting, but if without the French the project is dead in the water, they had the decisive cut apparently.

Far from me being pro-French (I am from a country where they are not well seen traditionally), but it sounds like they wanted the lead on something on which they brought decisive competencies. The Germans have barely built any weapons for close to 80 years AFAIK.
