I’ve always considered sciences like psychology to be more susceptible to the reproducibility crisis. It seems if someone decides to pursue a career in academia the criteria becomes publishing, and well publish or perish as is goes.

I think some researchers areocing towards things like prerigistering hypothesis and open data+publishing source code for calculations and using that as references in there paper so it can be updated afterwards.

They’re have definitely been a lot of papers where results were later determined to be wrong but is still referenced because well you can’t update a paper from the 1970s.

Found after a quick search, I didn’t check how active they are or try and confirm any of the data. Looks like they indexed and categorized it into people, businesses, etc

Sorry I hated to ask it originally and I still hate fucking asking but how does it work for a victim like in a shooting or something?

I’m not sure if you know the answer but since you work in 911 dispatch, how does it work if a person is a suspect in a crime or something? I assume if they would notify your parents/immediate family?

Back when I worked in web hosting I would occasionally get calls mostly from certain European countries and websites mainly doing online gambling which was illegal in those countries. They would always try and demand I hand over the owner of the website and to take it offline.

My response was always the same unless you have a court order from our government than fuck off.

The ones that did have court orders were always interesting cases though and the crazy ones were the ones with court not to take down the website but to plugin a device to monitor all the traffic and every year they would send a new order to let them monitor it for another year

Pretty much this but the main point of it was it was suppose to be anonymous, so they didn’t have to worry about said axe murder coming after them. The stupid thing they did was require their personal information including selfies during the sign up and that was leaked. Probably the worst thing to happen for the people of that apps intended target audience. Someone’s supposedly already tried to make service to find the women in the leaked data but it was shut down thankfully.
