I guess Larry David designed that one.

21·28 days agoNon-native Spanish speaker, but I believe it’s in the directness of the command. Apila is telling someone to do it, whereas apile is just saying it needs to be done.
I think it depends on the person. I don’t have much interest, but I know two people that have theirs printing something almost 24/7. I’m also not the creative type, so that’s probably a factor for my disinterest.
Hopefully they didn’t misplace the decimal point.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why, in Spanish, is saint sometimes San and sometimes Santa for naming cities?
19·1 month agoSo up front, I’m not a native Spanish speaker, but I would imagine it’s the male and female versions of the word saint. Which is why you get San Sebastion and Santa Maria.
Thanks for the correction. And now that you mention it, Interview was set in New Orleans and not Miami, right?

Funny@sh.itjust.works•Well that certainly changed the tone
21·1 month agoIf I’m not mistaken, this is the opening to Interview with the Vampire, which was turned into a movie with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.
The name Lestat was also used in the film Queen of the Damned for the main vampire protagonist IIRC.
Are we still talking about bikes?

That’s only for hourly workers. Salaried employees get the opposite.
Maybe this is why I constantly feel like no one is reading my emails at work anymore. I can put multiple points of information into an email and only get a response that acknowledges the first one.
As someone who has worked in the public sector for nearly two decades, this is spot on. The real fix would be to modify government accounting laws so that appropriated funding doesn’t just expire at the end of any given fiscal year, or at a bare minimum make fiscal years longer than 12 months and have them overlap each other to some extent.
And be the one that has to pay the cancelation fee? Not a fucking chance.
Had you ever smoked before? I started smoking at 15 due to peer pressure (don’t smoke anymore, thankfully) but I can’t imagine wanting to try it without someone pressuring me to do so. They smell and taste disgusting.

Sure, but have you stopped to consider that maybe you’re just not a greedy sociopath?
