Welcome to the Abandoned By Microsoft club. For me it was Windows Phone 7.
Welcome to the Abandoned By Microsoft club. For me it was Windows Phone 7.
My first two smartphones were keyboard phones that I had a love-hate relationship with. The rest were all a hate-hate relationship, except my current phone which is back to love-hate. How many smartphones has the average person owned now? I am up to 12…oh god.
I do the same, including plugging the usb-c port. I specifically got a 5-watt qi charger over the 10 or 15 watt ones so that my phone would slow charge overnight. The phone doesn’t get warm when charging that way, unlike when I use the usb-c port.
This may not be the type of answer you are looking for, but personally I check on my friends and family. It helps me somewhat avoid overly browsing Lemmy. I’ll send them a text asking how they are or what’s new.
I tell my brain that this is a local and personalized news source. 🙃
I am a woman with a small forehead (low hairline) and it always looks like I’m wearing a wig. I hate it. I yearn for a normal-sized forehead.
I think you make a great point that we didn’t really get to an ending point from the pandemic trauma. For some of us, our nervous systems are still in panic mode.
But we also have the threats of climate collapse, global food and water shortages, a shift to the right or alt-right in several governments around the world, and technology being weaponized against us at an increasing rate. These threats to us are real. There are too many to list here.
To OP, please know that you are not alone. There are a lot of us who look at the state of the world and recognize the severity and criticality of these problems. My advice would be to get involved in something --anything – that helps or gives back to the community in some way. I started with donating blood. Will it change the world? No, but it helps someone, somewhere, and that helps my brain find peace.
I feel it’s important to note the Purple-brand mattresses and pillows all come coated in a white plastic powder. Sometimes a lot of it.
Breathing in micro/nano plastic powder is not good.
Purple claims it’s safe, inert, and non-toxic. The reality is that breathing in powdered plastic is not safe.
I would recommend using a well-sealed allergy-type pillow cover for any purple pillow, at a minimum.
I stopped buying Samsung products a decade ago after getting a midrange Samsung smartphone that never got an OS update and had glaring bugs that never got fixed, as well as having bought a new Samsung refrigerator that would make an extremely loud bang sound every couple of hours because of a design flaw in the water line that goes to the freezer to make ice cubes.
I owned other Samsung products that also had problems, but these two cheesed me off the most.
Over the years I have read about problem after problem people have had with Samsung appliances, and problem after problem with Samsung smart phones. Samsung has been downright user-hostile to their phone customers for a while now.
Fuck Samsung.
Only fuckers use virgin as an insult.
**limit one per virgin.
Because it became misused enough from the actual meaning of “mother” that it stuck, and the old “boomer” humor attitude of “haha I hate my spouse but I’m stuck with them” helped it stick.

Lemmy overall is much more open to debate than Reddit, and the downvote button is used less of a “disagree” or “fuck you” button than it was on the latter site.>
I really like seeing this here and I hope the trend sticks around. I feel like downvotes should be reserved for posts that one believes are a detriment to other users.
To OP’s question: I have experienced inbox fright, partially because of my very limited experience from posting on reddit and getting nasty replies from people, but also because I don’t like dealing with people arguing in bad faith. It’s exhausting.
Tactile buttons are the main reason I got one too! It’s getting hard to find new Digital Audio Players that still have physical buttons (and that doesn’t run Android). I ended up getting a Sony NW-A55 a few years ago and i love it.
I use TMPGEnc Authoring Works 7, as it’s the only software I found that will actually let me make my own customized Blu-ray menus.
Pros: It works. Let’s you actually make your own menus. It has good file format support. It outputs good results. Company offers trial version. Cons: Price. Periodic online software validation checks. Some settings and menu-building options are difficult to find, understand, and get working properly.
Yep, when you want your Orange Julius to cost $22
