Um, please source specifically the entirety of your claims…???
What are you even talking about?!
Um, please source specifically the entirety of your claims…???

Can you provide a source?
If not, just know that I would have to reject your claims, seeing as how they contradict information from a reputable source.
I’ve always figured a company will go public before enshitification truly gets underway. It’s kinda the first step of the process.
I guess my argument is that until that pressure to appease the stockholders exists, there’s not a whole lot of motive to justify enshitification. It’s hard for me to imagine the process happening any other way.
So, I suppose you can count my vote as being that going public will likely come first. Just my two cents, though, and I don’t know anything anyway! :-p
I’m a little bit confused by your post. Publicly-traded companies, by and large, place extraordinary emphasis on short term, quarter by quarter profit. Seems like a very strong contender for the root cause if the issue?
Enshitification is about monetization, getting more money from the same customer base.
Doesn’t this statement support publicly traded status being a riot cause, though?
I must assume I’m misunderstanding your argument…?
If you really need a whole lemmy community dedicated to just you, by all means, feel free to create it. 8-D
I recommend Digital Blasphemy. He creates all of his wallpapers using 3d modeling and rendering tools, but plenty of them look like nature or space photography. Personally love the style, but I suppose it’s not for everybody.
Anyway, he tenders all of his work in a variety of resolutions and aspect ratios; should be possible to find versions suitable for each monitor.
Umm, I might try that…later, though. 😜 (I’m having a bit of trouble remembering enough info to find the source, just so you know)
It’s kinda pedantic on the surface I guess, and I’m definitely not explaining it well.
We don’t actually use words strictly by the dictionary definition. Often, there’s extra things that certain words imply. For example, to “accept” something has the added implication that you approve of the thing, you’re ok with it. To acknowledge something is more limited to saying, yes, this thing is true, for better or worse.
Later I may see if I can track down the original quote; I’m sure that would be much more clear!
I’d suggest “acknowledging” the issue exists, rather than aiming to “accept” it, can be a helpful distinction. “Accept” implies you are okay with something, and that might make acceptance difficult. Semantics are weird…
Thank you for this. I also use Connect, so went ahead and manually added that to my block list.
Secret to a happy marriage??
This is objectively false.
No. Per month.
I’m delivering papers, wee hours in the morning, middle of winter. Just had a storm recently, so roads were rather icy. Go to cross the street when my dog starts acting all weird, won’t let me cross. Just as I’m getting frustrated, suddenly a pickup truck comes barreling around the corner. Driver immediately loses control on the ice, truck goes into a sideways slide at a pretty high speed.
That truck missed me by maybe a foot at most.
