You must be some kind of troll. Music literally transforms the structure of your brain, strengthens neural connections, and makes you smarter in every way. If you knew anything about either music or mathematics, you would know the two are fundamentally linked. There are many problems with our society, but too much access to arts and culture definitely is not one of them. Do they even teach music in schools anymore? States have been cutting the curricula to the bone, and the arts have suffered the most.

Music is far and away the more worthy subject.

I can, and I do benefit from other people’s skills and efforts. That is the content of society.
Our culture trains us to value only the output of our work and regard the process as nothing but liability—but for the results, an abject waste of time and resources. And so, the masters of our society attempt to eliminate every expenditure that does not yield an immediate return. So they extinguish the light of human culture, which is the expression of our creative activities.

What starts as some dots on a page becomes a dance in my hands as the music comes to life.2·4 months agoMusic as magic is a wonderful motif! I saw an image post circulate that suggested using photos of orchestra conductors as visual reference for drawing spellcasters. The image spoke for itself: the degree of focused intensity and direction in their posture fits the concept perfectly.
I never really felt like the “creative” type; that was always my dad and my brother. I’ve always been more interested in the “analytical” minded subject: mathematics, natural sciences, computer programming and logic.
Ironically, my journey in music really began after I chose to cut contact with my dad, arguably the biggest musical influence in my life beginning from early childhood. I take this as spiritual validation that I made the correct choice leaving behind his narcissistic bullying and abuse.

It’s neat that it is tuned the same as a violin, because that makes the very expansive repertoire music arranged for that instrument available to me as well. I’ve been learning mainly folk music, but I may dabble in classical more as I continue.

I am referring to the entire score of music as “dots on a page” reductively by the noteheads. The dots don’t do anything until I make them do something. I make the note longer when I hold it longer. The music doesn’t come from the page nor the instrument, but from me.
I agree. The domain is an important part of knowing
I think it would be nice to expect to see user’s full addresses in ui. You can tap around and find it in the options but that takes an active input. If someone is trying to spoof a well known user it should be readily apparent by their @instance registration.

Idk if they addressed issues with resources or enough people left and went elsewhere. I definitely experienced some initial frustration I also made an account at lemm.ee but I have been sticking with my first dot-world one for now.

I suffered through the technical issues many of us experienced, but everything seems much better and smoother now (maybe because they were able to fix the issues, or maybe because enough people left because of them, I can’t say!)
Does it matter what you use? Yes and no, I guess. Apparently the last few days performance issues were mostly local to dot-world. I did make another profile on lemm.ee and I noticed the different instances seem to show different feeds with some different content, but also many of the same posts from the same communities as well. I’m still trying to figure out how they decide what they show in their feeds. Something to do with federation, I guess, but I’m not pretending to understand the meaning of that concept yet. Given that instances can choose to federated or defederate, it seems like it must matter to some extent what instance you are on even though content can be shared between instances.

I’ve been enjoying the content and discussion here in the last day since I created my profile here. I have noticed a bit of lag and issues with things loading. I know there was a software update and obviously a sudden influx of new users. As frustrating as it was to have to move apps and communitie and despite the obvious growing pains, I have been happy to find a new community that is friendly and vibrant as this one!
These “humanitarian pauses” merely serve to provide the barest cover for the deliberate mass starvation of the Palestinian people. The images of emaciated skeletal figures have aggravated the mass revulsion and anger felt among the populations of Israel’s imperialist allies, and increasingly among the Israeli population itself. Such “pauses” in the livestreamed genocide are intended to provide the governments of the respective countries with sufficient justification to continue arming Israel and supporting the slaughter.
